Whats bugging me is I washed my bike three times this afternoon and each time I dried it I still found those stupid dead #*#*ing bugs stuck to my bat wing and lower legs  . Anyone found a easy way to remove these #*#*ing bugs other then elbow grease. Or do Canadian bugs stick better when they splat.

They come off better when they are fresh and not baked on, but if they are stubborn I spray a little pledge on the area and polish them off. You can also buy bug and tar remover, but it is basically varsol in a little bottle.

I use hydrogen peroxide, spray on and the bugs foam up and come right off. Won"t hurt the paint by the way.

I fill a spray bottle with a good car wash and hot water. I rinse the entire bike then spray the the car wash on and let it set for a few minutes. Doesn't take much to get them off after that.

I'll have to try the hydrogen peroxide method. While simple soap and hot water, and waiting several minutes for soaking works well, I'm all about getting the cleanup done quicker if I can!

Windex. Spray it on and let it soak for a minute or two.

Wait about 3 months and there will be no bugs to squish.

I don't know about waiting three months, we headed out this morning and it was about 46 degrees Fahrenheit. When we drove by the county yard they had the conveyor belt set up to bring the winter sand, scary thought eh. I could have thought that summer only started about a month and a half ago:hmm: , hard to believe September is only 2 weeks away and then fall sets in and we won't talk about what comes next >:

Yup summer is speeding by and I for one have not had enough days in the saddle this year. Too many unavoidable distractions.

I use warm water and it seems to soften them up pretty easily.
Summer is going by very quickly, I havn't ridden near as much as other years.

I know what you mean about these spots showing-up after you have cleaned the bike.

"Quick Detail" sprays containing enzymes are extremely effective in removing bugs; and are far less harsh on your paint than some other chemical / manual methods of removing them.

The enzymes simply break-down the bugs, making their evidence easily wiped away.

These cleaners also leave a layer for protection and shine; making it easier to clean-off the bugs the next time.

For tough situations, let it sit for a bit first. Doesn't take long though.

Haven't tried the hydrogen-peroxide trick yet, but had heard of it not too long ago.

Get a can of Plexus. It's not cheep at all. A small can 7oz goes for $19. It's designed to polish & protect all plastics.

George, there are all kinds of them out there.

I used "Bug-Slide" for years. It is a fantastic detail cleaner and polish. You can order direct from them... you will not regret buying some. Bug-guts disappear, I promise.

Another brand that is good is in the following link: http://www.autogeek.net/diamondite-bug-eraser.html

A little-bit of this stuff goes a long, long way... much more so than other "stuff".

The enzymes break-down the bug-guts, making them much easier to wipe-off. For tough spots -- especially ones that were allowed to stay on there for a few weeks -- it takes a little more soaking, but they will disappear.

I would not rub any paint very hard though, because the softest cloth will leave marks -- even if at first you do not see them.

Another approach I am thinking about doing for my fairing is to buy clear vinyl material to stick to my fairing. That way the paint shows through, but the vinyl takes the beating. If it begins to look like crap, I would just replace it. I believe 3M makes it... not sure though.

I use Suzuki detail polish from my local dealer. $4 a can - haven't told them I see other brands of same stuff for 10 - 15 dollars. Works well on the bugs and believe me we run into a lot of them here.
