View Full Version : Eastern Region Rally Lodging
Please refer to my previous post about lodging and vote on which you prefer for the rally June 19-22.
Thanks,
Kawgirl and Unwind2
I decided to copy and paste the hotel info here.
CV State Park Lodge
Thursday $69 for single $79 for double
Fri & Sat $89 for single $99 for double
The woman I spoke with said this is prime season. She did not mention breakfast being included. Looking at the website, the only complimentary items are tea and coffee. http://www.canaanresort.com/
Elkins Super 8
$58.50 + tax if we book 10 rooms or more. Continental breakfast included. It's right on Hwy 219 which is a great road to shoot from to the attractions mentioned before. http://www.super8.com/ Type in Elkins, W Va if you want to check out the hotel.

I will close out the poll Sunday evening and block rooms according to the results at that point. Post up folks. I know we have more than 4 people planning to go the rally.

It looks good and you are doing a great job molding the plan. Thanks for taking the lead on this. Did they give you any concrete dates (ie. no later than) for individual room reservations?

Good question dui. I want to make sure an get a resevation in before a deadline also. I'm sure after voting is over Kawgirl will let us know.
Also I think we need to all put in a request for fantastic weather that week.....humm???what did I do with that number?

Super 8 sounds good to me can't wait and my request for fantastic weather has been placed.
Yeah, I've ordered up some good weather as well. How about you guys help me order up good weather next week while I'm cruising around in the NC mountains? I couldn't hurt.

Why are you booking so early? 3 months in advance should be fine. With winter coming there will be new members joining here that will want to go.

I don't think it is so much about booking early as it is about getting the guaranteed rooms. I am trying to organize nomad riders leaving from the East Coast (Hampton Roads area - Virginia Beach Area). There are two of us so far and we'd love for others to join in along the way. Our route will most likely be roughly 64 west 81 north 33 west. Let me know if it works for you.

Yep - getting a guarantee of a block of rooms. That's why need general idea now. If more join later we can always try to up the number of guaranteed rooms. As people find this forum during the winter and join. They can always join in the rallies and just call the place we're staying, say their with the group, reserve a room and get the special rate. You'd be surprised how quickly a place in a touristy area will fill up during summer months.
That's exactly it dui. June is prime season in that area and we want to make sure we have some rooms blocked off.

I will ride up with ya..........
Even though I'm a westerner I want to plan early because at work I have to put my vacation requests for 2008 in by Dec. 07.

Kawgirl,I would like to give a definite answer on the rally but its to eairly for me to do that,I would also like to me everbody,im sure it will be a great time. The place you pick looks fine to me,Your doing a great job.If I can be there I will.
been a while...appreciate information regarding the logistics for this ride e.g. date, event, etc.
Hey Dip!
Long time, no see. Where ya been? We would love to see you in June. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
Hey there kawgirl. Yep it has been awhile. Lot's been going on, but the greatest news is that I'm back in the saddle again. Been trying to make up for lost time, so between work, school, home obligations - I've been riding!!! What is the June trip about, date, where etc.?
Ok. I read through some older post, I see 6/19 looks like the date and WV the place. Lodging don't have a preference...I'll be coming back from Americade around that time, and probably broke, but I'll just have to start putting a little bit more aside.

HEY DIP! Glad to hear from ya....hope you can make...if not for all 3-4 days maybe for one or two. Glad you're back in the saddle and doing well. :)
I tried calling to block rooms at the hotel but it was after hours. If I have a chance tomorrow, I will call again. Otherwise it will be when I return from the mountains.
Here's the skinny. I called to block rooms. They have to get in touch with the actual hotel to get a block release date before they can be blocked. I am waiting for them to call me back so this can be taken care of. I'll post as soon as this is all cleared.

Re: Rally
We just returned from WV, spent 4 days at the Super 8 in Elkins. Its a great choice, clean, hospitable and the manager Barbra is a real nice person. The location affords acess to the nicest riding you can imagine, and the area dining is 1st class and very inexpensive. There is also quite a few other motels nearby. The music events at nearby Davis & Elkins Colege for anyone likeing Fiddle,Banjo, and mountain music is fantastic.
Thanks for the vote of confidence Ole Dawg. Glad to hear the hotel is a good one. I hope someone calls me back in a timely manner so we can get it booked.

Old Dawg------Ditto what Kawgirl said- thanks for the added info. :)
I called again last night and the group sales folks have to get a release date from the local hotel. They are supposed to call me back as soon as they do and give me the details. I'm just waiting..........
The rally lodging info is posted on the KawaNOW Vulcan Nomad site at this link. http://www.kawanow.org/rally2008.htm
I just booked my room. Hope to see lots of folks there. We have 20 rooms blocked. If it starts to look like that's not enough, I will call and see about blocking more. Check out the info.

I know there were a couple of you who said you would help us out with routing for rides. I was thinking we could have routes that include some of the interest points in the area such as Seneca Rocks, Cass RR, etc. Any help will be appreciated. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

I would like to come to the rally, and if I can it will be on the spur of the moment. I may even have to lay off a couple of days from work. Summer vac. are a pain to lock in where I work. So when I drop in where will I hook up with the main forces.

Boy I can relate to the pain of getting off the days you want....there is only 2 of us that do the night supervision full time and one part-timer who can't work a lot and the day supervisors will only cover a little bit (they're not used to working all night). We basically have to cover for each other.
