Next thing I would look at would be the connections on top of the tank. You could also get a multimeter and check for connection at terminals there to see if the switch is bad.

2nd Chance Customs had that all apart Ray, you know how they did the rest of your bike. Take it apart and check the connection.

The wiring diagram and a multimeter can help you out here. If the key was hard to turn and now you get nothing even jiggling the switch back and forth, it could be screwed up contacts. I would start there. Pull the ignition switch and check the continuity in each of the key positions. If that checks out, start checking for power at the connector plug.

Ray, I had the exact same thing happen to me last year on a road trip. Pulled over to checkout the scenery, switched off the bike and went I turned the switch it was hard to turn. I kept playing with it and nothing. I had to call a towing company to get the bike and take it the nearest dealer. The dealer verified my thoughts, the switch was toast and they didn't have one. So, the mechanic by-passed the switch and mounted a toggle switch so that I could continue on my way. Good Luck.

I'd say its the ignition switch as well, There have been a few worn switches by me and others here.

I had the same problem with the ignition switch on the way home from the National. Goes in easy. Turns like it's full of silicone caulk. Hard to get the key out without allot wiggling. I have not touched the bike since we got home. Too damn hot. I was thinking about shooting a little WD-40 followed by some graphite when I finally get around to washing it.

Now I'm wondering if I should be ordering a new switch. Keep us posted on what you find.

While ignitions can go out... it sure seems given the long list of problems you had after 2nd Chance Customs worked on your bike, one would not think this is a coincidence.

Hope you get it worked out Ray...

Check your key to see if its bent. Same thing started to happen to me and instead of forcing the key I used my backup key and everything was fine. Twisting a slightly bent key will destroy your ignition switch.

Thanks Brad. I did notice it was slightly bent. I will get it into the old vise and straighten it out. :D:D
