I'm about to log off and pack my laptop on the bike. I'll be on the road by 06:30.

Will recap the day after I get to my destination for the day.

To everyone else going to the rally - let's be careful out there!

Made it to Cortez, about 472 miles today. It was already "warm" when I left Phoenix and other than for maybe 40 miles around Flagstaff where it was very pleasant, it was fairly hot for the rest of the day. Not Phoenix hot, but I was hoping for a little more break from the heat. Really windy around Monument Valley, which is usually the case. Tomorrow I am going through Durango and Pagosa Springs on my way to Canon City.

FYI Scott, US 160 is closed north of Pagosa Springs. Check out this site http://www.cotrip.org/home.htm for road closures from the fire.

Ross, I sure don't have any hair balls to hock up. Brad might.

Made it to Canon City, CO. I had to detour at Pagosa Springs and go into NM and then back up into CO. It was a very nice ride, the weather was beautiful, although windy in places. I could see the smoke billowing up from the Wolf Creek fire from Alamosa, and then I got to ride through it for 30 miles or so. It blocked the sun in some areas. I conquered La Manga Pass at 10,230' above sea level. I tallied 379.5 miles today. My only gripe about CO is the extremely conservative speed limits.

I left home this morning around 9:30 , went stratght south to West Yellowstone and then through Yellwstone Park and south past the Tetons. Man! people can't drive for s**t. Too busy rubber necking, they need to make the "slower traffic use pullout" signs a lot BIGGER. I'm staying tonight in Lander, Wy . Only have another 300 mi. tomorrow. Plan to get an early start.
