Why the aversion to the bar mount?

You can also get a brake or clutch reservoir ball.

I do want to mount on risers ,looks like the mount is very expensive. Seems like I could just cut out a piece of aluminum, drill holes and weld a 1 inch ball mount on to it.

As far as to the clutch or brake, I have a ball mount to brake on my other bike , but is vertical and the vaquero is at a angle . Does not fit.

l have the ram mount that simply goes under the mirror stem on my vaquero.kawi has a billet mount for the risers but it very pricey.

The RAM stuff is expensive in general, but in my own experience it's well designed and depending on what your resources at hand are, might not be cost effective to try to re-create on your own. The ball mounts actually have a fairly thick rubber coating which seems to dampen vibration. I've never had a mount come loose, so I suspect that tends to maintain the tension and perhaps even helps reduce vibration transferring to the device itself.

This is what I use. It works well. I mount it to the bar between the riser clamps.

I used original mount from Garmin with a wider u bolt to accomodate the larger diameter bars. Riser mounts were too expensive. Mounted in center initially but couldn't read display so moved further up the bars on the right. Still clears everything.
