A friend of mine has an '02 with those same cobras, and they sound a lot like the bafflectomy mod. A little louder than stock, but not the sound of the V&H baggars

I had the slash cuts on my 99. I now have the cobra true duals on my 06. The slash cuts were louder & not as deep a tone as the true duals. If you don't want loud but want a good deep sound i would go with the true duals. I have the billet tipped ones. I haven't heard the baggers so can't compare them to the sound of the baggers.

Put on Cobra slash cuts in the Spring. Just love them, nice loud, low end rumble when you idle, and when you roll on the throttle. But, not loud when your on the highway cruising. No need for me to wear earplugs like some pipes make you do.....

I had V & Hines dual baggers for 2 seasons, I was never happy with that storm drain 4 inch hollow sound....I tried various mods including cutting down the baffles to 6 inches, I then went to the Cobra website and found the speedster extra longs for the Nomad.

I installed them last week and just love that low rumble from my 1600 engine.

check out this sound clip!

If they were on a Nomad, and you had a muffler under each saddlebag, they were the "Dual Baggars" and IMO, the best sound for an aftermarket Exhaust.

I have the Cobra True Dual Billet tip on My Nomad. The Wife has the V&H dual baggers. The V&H are definitely louder than the billet tip Cobras.

I have the Cobra true duals - tapered. The sound is just right for me. It's not near as loud as most of the bikes I ride with, but plenty loud enough to hear and have a nice deep rumble. Also, I don't believe the Cobras have any packing, so I don't have to periodically repack like I did with Roadhouse exhaust on my old bike.

Interesting article I found while researching this topic, though a bit outdated.

http://www.motorcyclecruiser.com/accessoriesandgear/pipecomparo97/index.html

It has to do with the 1500 Classic, but it may give us some idea of the difference between pipes. I tried to find DG pipes for the Nomad, but it does not look like they are available.
