I think the biggest concern is to not use the older hard-drive models. The vibrations of the bike will kill a spinning hard-drive.

I believe there is one generation of the Ipod that the kits will not work with, 3rd generation I think.

Seems like Kaw has it all figured out what will work and what will break Im starting to have problems with my nano not wanting to work some times. Drives me nuts at times.

How do you guys charge the ipod? The kit doesn't charge does it? Or is it just the 3rd gen nano that doesn't charge? I'm looking at buying the a used 4th gen nano but want to make sure it charges so I can just leave it in the bike.

I picked up an older one on ebay for about $30, its ruff looking but plays fine.

My understanding is that any iPod with a 30 pin connector will display song, artist and also charge the ipod. I use an old iPod touch and it works great, never have to take it out for anything. One good thing to know is if you want to shuffle the songs, make sure you set it to shuffle on the iPod manually before you put the iPod in the compartment. You can not set it to shuffle from the radio itself.

Awesome. Hopefully it'll work out then. Thanks!
