1) Has anyone with a Vaquero tried to replace the stock mufflers with a set of long exhaust tips? Seems cheaper and would be like a set of straight pipes.
2) When you get the driving/fog lights do they just plug in somewhere? I am assuming there is a spot for them because there is wires pre run for rear speakers, why not add them for the lights as well.
Hopefully I will be installing a tour pak for the wife and im trying to find cheaper ways to get a better sound and look out of the bike.

Haven't heard of anyone doing straight pipes. If you do, no use spending any money on speakers! I'm not a fan of straight pipes. You will find a lot of riders on here using either the Cobra Tri-Ovals or the V&H Twin Slash slip-ons. Both will reduce back pressure and improve sound quality. I can tell you that the stock slip-ons will sound better after about 5,000 miles without damaging everyone's hearing.
Yes, there is a connector in the fairing to connect the aux lights, assuming you get the stock units.
Ha Ha, your question reminds me of my experience yesterday. I met a group of guys for breakfast and then off to a charity ride. I noticed he was hard of hearing and even though he was next to me at the table, conversation was somewhat difficult due to his hearing loss. Then we got on the bikes for the ride, and he turned the key. The speakers were full blast and all I could hear was distortion and static, until he hit the starter. A set of straightpipes on an older twin cam 88...
Riding down the road several bikes behind him, I understood why he had the speakers cranked up, but I had to wonder if he felt the need for obnoxious pipes and stereo because he was half deaf, or was half deaf from riding with straight pipes and obnoxious stereo!

Thanks for the advice.
Was going to install a set of flashers to use during our rides and escorts and dont want to have to cut anything. I should be able to buy the proper connectors.
The straight ideal is a last resort because my wife hates them lol thinking aboit just punching a hole in the stocks until i can afford a set of slip ons
