While back I had posted links to a few Nomads that I was looking at, but for one reason or another were not what they appeared to be. Either for reasons of the bike value as presented or gut feelings about the seller.
Took a short break from looking and got side tracked and made a purchase though not Nomad related. But, fun none the less and brings back some fond memories.
I did go take a look at a red/titanimum 2007 Nomad with 6,800 miles on it yesterday. It is stock as can be right down to sounding like a sewing machine while running.
Seller is includeing 2 pair of leather chaps, leather cooler bag for the luggage rack, cover, leather jacket, wash/wax/cleaning products, 4 HJC helmets of various sizes, 1 unknown brand helmet, 1 Shoei full face helmet and charger. Rear tire replaced 1K miles ago.
He is the original owner from day one and has kept up on the maintance.
Asking price: $7,000
Problem is, the bike has gone down once at very low speed, around 5 mph. The only damage noticed was to the crash bars, both the engine guard and bag guard.
Does anyone have any idea what the cost would be to purchase replacements for these to guards?
Given the information I have included what would be a good price to offer on the bike? He said his low price would be $6,600 every thing included.
My thoughts are more along the price of $6,000 with everything stated included.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks

FWIW: I did spend a good deal of time talking with the owner asking questions and got a good feeling about the guy.
Reason for selling the bike is a child turning of the age to drive and looking to purchase a car for transportation.

In order for the dresser bar, in front of the bags, to be damaged, I'd also expect damage to the grips, mirror, bags, floorboards, etc. Has he made these repairs?

I looked on Ron Ayers and the guards are 77 and 76 each. That's not alot. 6600 may sound like a lot, but if the bike hasn't been screwed with it's worth it.

I would try and stay on the low side as much as possible. 6k$ would be a GREAT buy IMO $6500 would give you some wiggle room to fix the minor damage.

You are correct, there was some scraping to the latch around the key lock on the bag and a few minor scratches to the paint and more of a scuff on the grip. Nothing on the floorboards or mirrors.
I would also replace the bag lock latch for I am guessing another $100 or less?
Thank you for refreshing my memory..getting old sucks!!
I am trying to take into account the extras that could be sold @ around recouping around $500 of the purchase price.

Split the difference and see what he says. 6250?

I think 7k is on the high end, the damage is very minor and won't affect the bike at all rather than some visual marks. I'd try to see if he would take 6k for it the way it is.
And very nice car, Congratulations!

A 2007 Nomad w only 6800 miles that has been taken care of will give you a lot of care free riding. If 6600 is his line in the sand I personally wouldn't let it slip away for a couple hundred bucks.
$6k would be good, but honestly as soon as the temps are up a bit and the snow goes away, he will most likely be able to get $6600+ by someone in a heartbeat. (At least in my area). The scrapes on the bars don't affect the performance, and you may be able to find some on Ebay if you don't go new. Mine fell over while idling at the bank one day, (nothing like standing beside the bike and watching it move forward without anyone on it and not be able to do anything about it..) and quite frankly I never replaced the scratched crash bar.

I agree. I think in another month he'll be able to get 7000. I would jump on it at 6600 as the 1600 Nomad is my favorite ride

OH YEA, I forgot to tell ya...I just bought a 2007 Kawasaki Nomad..metalic red with titanium.
With all of the mentioned items I gave $6,000. Sure don't think I got hurt at that price.
Thanks for all of the help and advice.
We couldn't meet up this afternoon to take delivery so he is going to bring it to the house tomorrow evening.

I don't know what that model year goes for, so I can't comment. I really like the newer ones with the 5.0. I test drove one when they first came out and they are fairly quick. It's also hard to believe the current V-6 is on par with what the last year the 4.6L V-8. Pony cars are a lot of fun. All I can say is just drive it.

Congrats. Mine was red and titanium too, which I believe is the nicest factory color for that year. Good luck with it.

Thank you, it seems that there were more of the green and titanium sold since that is all I have come across until this one. But, to say I'm excited would be an understatement.
