Well... my pre-ordered Shoei J Cruise 3/4 Helmet finally came in today! I've always loved Shoei helmets and wished they made a 3/4 with a face shield. When they finally got around to it, they surpassed my expectations by including an internal sun visor.

I have tried a lot 3/4 helmets, but just haven't found anything that's as comfortable as my Shoei RF-1100 full face helmet. When I saw this one come up for pre-order, I just had to have it. I installed one of my Sena Bluetooth devices on it this afternoon and it's really comfortable for the short time I've wore it around the house. I'm afraid it's going to be a bit before I get to try it out on the bike as we're in the middle of a snow storm that's supposed to drop over 12" in the next 24 hours.

Here's a couple pictures:

Got my first Shoei late summer, the Neotech. I wear a full face most of the time, but really liked the idea of the modular. The Neotech has been everything Shoei said it would be. Hard to beat the quality or features of Shoei. You should love it!

For anyone considering a new helmet who has or is considering getting a Sena headset.

Bell has just come out with the Mag 9 (2013 model) that has a recessed pocket on the side of the helmet for a Sena SMH 10 communicator. Really easy install.
The helmet also has the integral drop down sunglasses.

I think the helmet will be available in April for around $200.

There are videos on Youtube showing the helmet and the Sena install.

The Shoei J Cruise is $600 plus tax in Canada.

Probably much cheaper in the U.S.

I bought a Shoei Qwest in Vancouver Bike Show last year and got a pretty good deal, the price was comparable to that of US prices. Otherwise we're usually getting ripped off in Canada.

I had a MultiTec which was the predecessor to the NeoTec. The MultiTec was a little heavy and wasn't very good at keeping the wind noise down. I tried a NeoTec on at the shop and it seems like a much better helmet.

Mike like the 1100 does that 3 quarter helmet fit a long oval head shape?

The Neotech is a lot better at keeping out wind noise. I use It on the interstate and then switch to a 1/2 helmet in town

You can get it here ' http://www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/shoei-j-cruise-helmet.html ' in black or white for $491.99 with free shipping.

Other colours available for $524.79.

Or, you can get it here ' http://www.helmetcity.com/page/HC/CTGY/shoei-j-cruise-solids ' for $449.99 (Black or White). Other colours for $477.99. Free 2 day shipping is included. They also have a "lowest price guarantee".

The second one is from the US but, if you're lucky, CBSA may let it through but, if not, you're only on the hook for the HST or PST/GST.

That's the way I do 90% of my bike related purchasing. :D

 If anyone is interested, you may want to have a look at the Scorpion EXO 900. It's a feature packed, convertable modular helmet that converts to a 3/4 helmet and, is the only Modular Helmet, I'm aware of, that is both DOT and EU approved.

It's the helmet that I currently use and, in addition to an inflatable neck curtain (for a snug fit and excellent wind noise reduction), has great ventilation, a drop down sun shade and, is like having 2 helmets with you on your ride.

And, BD, I can attest to the fact that it fits a long, oval shaped head extremely well. (Just don't ask me how I know... :???: :ohno: :tehe: :lmao:)

I could get a Schuberth for that much.

I have a Scorpion EXO 900, too. Nice helmet but I'm considering selling it and buying a Nolan N 104 only for the (much) larger face shield. The Scorpion definitely fits non-round heads. The price is good at around $250ish, especially when you get both a modular and a 3/4 at the same time.

That Shoei J-Cruze looks like a nice helmet. The scoop on top looks like a air vent. I got a Scorpion EXO900 Transformer Hilmet last year but only used it 2 times wanted to whare out the Nolan X-Lite X-i002. Like the Scorpion and will be using it this summer. Rather have the tab for raising the shield in the middle rather than on the sides. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-S-L7xkTYA

There is a better demo tape on U-TUBE this demo seems to be cut short.

I tried the cheap route as well and bought the Fulmer. The inner padding is so thin that the helmet gave me a headache after about 30-40 minutes. I could actually feel the plastic rubbing the top of my head. I tried the EXO 900 as well, but found it to be heavy and small in the chin/cheek area. With the face piece in place, my chin touched the inside of the chin bar.

I sold the EXO 900 and will probably end up giving the Fulmer away.

After spending far too much looking for the perfect helmet(s), I have finally found three that can serve all my needs. The Harley Hybrid half helmet for really hot weather, the Shoei J Cruise for highway touring in warm weather and the Shoei RF 1100 for cooler weather.

It is an air vent. One large vent in the front and two in the rear.

I use two helmets. Scorpion 100 3/4 helmet for summer and around town and the shark evoline modular helmet for long tours. They both work and fit great. The shark I took out the pad where my fore head hit because I have the oval shape head too.
