Finally bought a Zumo 550. I travel a lot and need a GPS for work, but I got the 550 so it will work easily on the Nomad as well. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
So I go out today to mount it and route power to it and just thought; what the heck, might as well put in an aux fuse block while I'm at it like some of you guys have done.
I put it and the relay (so it's only hot when the key is on) in the left side cover. Works great and will sure make future accessory installation a breeze.

Nice set up. I'm scared to do that kind of stuff but I suppose I should soon.

That looks like one neat, clean install. And I really need something like it. But, my left cover doesnt' look anything like yours. Did you pull everything out, or what?

For one, it's not a CA emissions bike, so there's no vapor canister, but where's the tool kit? Nice job, Audio. Did you do like I did and run some spare wires with it? I wish I had that kind of room behind my LH side cover.

same thing here, I just run the GPS off its own battery

CJ nailed it: it's a 99 carbed bike non CA, so no emmissions cannister. Tool kit is still intact behind the door although I carry other tools in the trunk and seldom use it. Just the spark plug socket.
There's just enough room between the battery box and the back of the side storage piece to run wires. Yeah, I ran some extra lines so I have 3 open circuits ready to fill should the need arise.
Really simple to do guys and only took me about an hour.

You'll thank yourself down the road for running those extra wires.

An hour? Ok, with my normal luck, an hour job turns into 4, lol. Like pulling my wires went 4:30 hours for the crash bars. Beer tasted great afterward though.

Looks like a good set up in the cover area.. I run my GPS HOT,, so when I shut off the BIKE I do not have to restart the GPS,,ALSO it has a TIMER feature so if your timeing you trip stops and ride time it keeps counting,, I just dont like to turn it on.off on a trip.. LOW draw and no problems,,,,,,,Rich

When I shut off the bike my GPS just switches to internal battery power so it stays on until I shut it down.
I don't know, I just didn't want accessories to stay on after the key is shut off so I put the whole block on a relay.
