I just made a deal on a 1996 A model (BUBF).

While technically not a bagger, it will have soft bags.

I have to pick it up in VA, so I don't have it in my garage yet.

The engine is already out, so that saves a little time.

It should be a fun project. The 'A' models had the most hp and torque, even more than the meanies. The 'A' cams were the stoutest MaKaw used in the 1500, and were dual carbed. This bike weighs in at over 200 lbs lighter than a 1500 Nomad.

I'm looking forward to putting a screamer together.

Pics posted once I get it home and get started on it. It may be a couple of months.

The only downside is that it is 4 speeds, no?

4 speed trans isn't really a downside. Top gear is still an OD, it's just missing an intermediate gear.

It'll have more than enough grunt to make up for it.

Very cool. I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures of it's progression.

I have the 98 1500 a bubf. It is light and fast. I love it. The only changes on it are the Barnett spring, windshield, avon grips. This is the bike I'll never sell. When the time comes I'll have it restored top to bottom but it's in perfect condition and I ride it as much or more than my Nomad

Ive heard a lot of good things about the bubf motors. Too bad they didn't keep that kind of power in the newer bikes.

What no pictures?

I like this one. Realize it's not stock, but cool. You could change the knickname/monicker of this one.

I can't figure out how to get my pics from my smartphone to here. It's not as nice as the bike you showed here but I love my 1500a
