Does anyone have advice on GPS Holders. I'm looking at an inexpensive one online that claims to be waterproof. I tried to attach a photo.

Ive never seen that one but a lot of us use a zip loc bag, they work great.

I went with the Garmin 660 The holder automatically plugs it in and the unit is supposed to be waterproof without extra stuff.

I had that one. Only problem is that the touch screen was almost impossible to use. The plastic cover takes away the sensitivity of the screen. Gloves just make it worse.

Check out RAM Mounts, you won't be sorry you did.

I second cactusjack's statement.

I third it! They aren't water proof, but very stable and well designed. When it rains, take your GPS off and put it in your saddlebags.

Try a RAM Mount Aqua Box. Lots of different shapes and sizes.

Anyone use one of these for an iPhone? I'm curious about the mount. Pix aren't the best on Rams site.

Isn't that what the saddlebags are for? That's where I keep my atlas.

Once you use a GPS you will wonder why you didn't get one sooner.

Actually I've used them and wondered how they became so popular. But Tim, I'm shocked. Just can't wrap my mind around you being a high-tech spendthrift. Digital Movie Maven Brad, sure, I expected it, but you, Tim? World truly must be coming to an end!

Hell Dan, I need GPS to find my way around this area of NY State and I have lived here all my life.
Cindy and I will be going somewhere and I will ask her how to get there.
She just looks at me and says " I still don't believe you have lived here all your life."
So you see I had to spend the $600 on it as it was a necessity. :D

I have to say, I have one like that and don't have a problem with it. Keeps my GPS dry in some massive downpours and the touch screen still works fine, even with gloves on.

bernsax --- That one is cheaply made and leaks. I have a Garmin nuvi 1350 (used) with a RAM setup. I got the mounts from GPScity. Good prices, quick shipping. My GPS works fine even with thick gloves. I don't see an issue with a thin layer of plastic (bag) between the screen and my glove (mine's not waterproof). I got mine on eBay for less than $50.

I've hear the aqua box doesn't work well on phones be sues of their digital screen input. GPS that uses the pressure sensitive touch screen like my Nuvi250, the aqua box works fine. I've got a waterproof case on my iPhone that works fantastic though, just bought the belt clip to go with it and mount the belt clip the the ram mount hardware.
