I am new to the world of nomads I just bought a 05 and the clutch engages at the very end of lever stroke I know that there is no adjustment for the clutch and the clutch seems fine I just wanted to know if this is normal? Thanks for any help Jim

you should have a dial on the clutch that changes where the release takes place depending on the size of your hand. Welcome to KawaNOW!

FYI, the higher the number on the dial, the closer the leaver is to the grip.

Thanks for your help but nomatter where I set the dial it engages in the first 1/2" of travel completely.

That dial only adjusts the reach of the lever for larger or smaller hands. It has nothing to do with the adjustment of the clutch mechanism.

As I release my clutch it travels about 1 /4" before it starts to engage, and by half way out, it is fully engaged. I like the way it operates. Total travel of the knob on the end of the lever is about 3" with my adjuster set on # 4.

It's normal for a hydraulic clutch and does take some time getting use too it.

I love it. You don't have to pull the lever in very far to shift. Makes gearchanges much faster.

As long as you don't feel it slipping under load or when climbing hills, its probably ok. If it is slipping you can replace it with a Meanstreak spring which is a little stronger. I installed one with the Judges washers and like the way it works a lot better than before. It engages with a much more positive feel , just like it should in the first place.

I thought the clutch was only for 1st, 2nd, and downshifts ::) ::)

Sounds normal. If you're used to a mechanical clutch the hydraulic takes a little getting used to. Its soft pull is nice in stop and go traffic compared to some mechanical clutches.

It was interesting the first time I rode my buddy's VN2K, because the clutch was just the opposite. By 1/4 travel it was all the way out, and without even touching the throttle that beast starts to go. Not one iota of slipping was required.
