Who was the rocket scientist that designed this thing? Unless you plan on leaving the iPod locked in the glove box, it's completely useless. I wasn't happy that I have to lose the whole glove box to hold one iPod. This thing is one big piece of @#@#, but I could work it into something better.

I wanted to use my iPhone 4s and be able to remove it during stops so here's what I did. I ordered a 3 foot dock extender off eBay and connected it to the iPod controller. Zip tied the connection onto the controller for stability and taped it all up to protect it from the elements. I removed the front of the fairing and mounted the controller on the fairing sub frame up next to the radio with heavy duty zip ties. Now it's completely out of the way, protected and out of sight. I ran the extension to the fairing pocket, had to file a bit to get the plug in but a larger grommet covered to hole. I also ran a 3 inch piece of ½ inch fuel line in the grommet to act as a guide and help keep water out. I now can push any slack back into the fairing if needed. Next I bought a cheap pocket eyeglass holder from Wal-Mart for about two bucks. Now I just slide the phone into the holder and plug in the connector. Everything looks much cleaner than that massive foam block and I've still got room for other items in the glove box.

Instead of going the corded route, I've gone bluetooth using a Sena SMH10 headset. Now I can control the music using the bikes controls or voice commands. All the iPhone’s voice features are available to me using bluetooth. I get all the iPod’s music info on the bike’s display and by using the bluetooth headset I also have the capability to make and receive phone calls into my helmet. All this with no cord.....the best of both worlds.

Yea, bluetoothing from your smart phone is the only way. I have the Sena and it works seemlessly to give nav, music, calls and intercom. All with no cord.

Too bad the radio won't also support Android. But I still have the Bluetooth connecting my phone with my SMH10 as well. I just don't get the display on the console. Maybe the next edition ...
