View Full Version : Location Polls for SW Rally

waterman

Jared and I have pinned down two locations for the 2014 SW Rally. Both locations have the ability for members of either the NW or the SC to attend as they are either on the north or east fringe of the area.

The two locations are Logan, Utah or Taos/Red River, New Mexico. Both are very nice locations.

With the poll I would like to see the interest of members from outside the SW Region. That is why I have two non-SW member responses as well as the member responses to guage the interest from outside the region.

*EDIT

The 2014 Southwest Regional Rally will be held in LOGAN, UTAH!

We have discussed the possibility of having a combined rally with the NW region, but it is still to be finalized. Rides, hotels, dates, etc. are still to be decided.

Joel, you should have added another choice "Doesn't matter - either one is fine".

It doesn't matter to me, I'm fine with either location. I think they are both great places for a rally.

OK, what would be your first preference?????

Well, since you pushed me, my preference is indicated in the poll.

There's a 700 mile distance between the two locations. I think the input you're really looking for is from those whose attendance is dependent on the location.

OK since your ignoring me the reason I picked Tahoe is that Kris and Ricky and some of the extreme NW usually like to attend ours. Putting it down south makes it longer than going to the Nat'l for some of these guys. Looking at Tahoe were within 700 miles of almost everyone.

Not ignoring you Brad. I talked with Kris about Logan and he loved that spot. Like I said, we've had 1 in California, Nevada, Utah and Colorado for Regionals. Just looking at the other states.

We will get around to Tahoe. I would like to get up there as well. I just need another year to forget that ride across the Salt Flats and Northern Nevada.

With the Logan, we will still get some from the NW region and if we do the Taos, we would get some from the SC region.

logan,ut. area simply because it would be closer for me and thus less expensive to

Logan is a beautiful area and the ride up through the pass to Bear Lake is spectacular! I rode through there on my way home from Kanab, just to see some new terrain as I had the time....it is two thumbs up for sure! Tahoe not being a choice....I opted for Logan as a non-SW member.

I'm not going to vote the pole since I don't care about the "Where". . . "Who" is more important to me.
If some of the folks are concerned about $$$ it should be anywhere other than Taos. That's the most expensive place to do anything in NM.

If we go to Taos we could stay here http://www.elmontesagrado.com/ I was one of the plumbers that helped build it. It's nice, but I'm not sure how many members could afford their room. :ohno: The "Cheap Seats" start at around $170.00 per night.

Hey, I don't want to buzz kill your Taos plans. I shouldn't matter Jim. I just picked Lake Tahoe in the beginning STRICKLY because of the geographic location that would allow the "most" potential riders.

If given a choice to ride 900 miles of desert in June to go to Taos, which I've skied there, and overpriced as hell. or ride 550 miles and 150 miles of that is through moderate desert to an altitude of 6000 feet of the Sierra Nevada mountains with 1000's of lakes and roads to ride? Cattle pastures, snow topped mountain peaks.

It's a no-brainer for me. Yes Scott, I have little brains to waste!

Logan is a nice place for a rally. It's located in the picturesque Cache Valley in the NE corner of Utah, about 75 miles N of Salt Lake City. Temperatures should be really nice there.
