See, what had happened was . . . . .

Finally got the replacement covers for my bike from the dealer under warranty. I decided once I pulled the clutch cover off to take off the plastic piece underneath and see what was there. As you will see in the pic, it is completely chromed metal. Why they would cover chrome with plastic is beyond me, but whatever. I'm gonna take some detailed measurements and see if I can have someone make me a cover like the custom engraved ones people make for harleys.

Hey Gonzo, how does that cover come off there. I've looked and don't really want to pry it off if it will ruin it. I too just wanted to see what was under it. Mine looks like crap and I'm afraid a new one will do the same thing.

The outer part is held on with double stick tape. I took mine off when the bike was hot. Seemed to make it easier. The inner plastic part is held on with 3 screws. The part under the plastic is completely flat. I'm gonna see if I can have someone custom engrave a flat round piece I can use to replace the plastic piece and not have to deal with the crappy covers any more. The dealer took care of the cover under warranty (finally) but I'd rather have chrome than cheap metal with a sticker.

Probably to hide the screw holes.

You know on the other side (pulley cover) it's flat. At J&P cycle I found a round "Ride to live, Live to ride" cover made for one of the Harleys. It's the perfect size and looks really good there. If the piece under the plastic is flat, I just may do the same on that side too.
