As a Gold Wing owner also I was bitten by the Safety Chrome bug many years ago. You by a piece and then you say. Thats it! Until the next piece. Can anyone relate? If anything can still be found for my 10 year old Nad it is VERY expensive. (Source for other bling for this ride would be appreciated) I wanted to chrome the existing floorboards. Any "actual experience" and suggestion for a chromer. Quality of work, finish, and price considered. I would be interested in perhaps getting a second set of used boards that I can send out while I continue to ride. All advice from this wise forum is valued greatly.

Kuryakyn makes some good looking chrome floorboard covers for the Nomad.

Thanks all for the Kuryakyn endorsement. The reason that I dont have them on my scooter now, or at least on my birthday list is because I have not been able to locate a matching set for the passenger. The plot thickens. Any suggestions for that mystery. Ra

Searched high and low, have not found any for passenger boards. I also have the Kuryakyn covers for the front boards.

Gene. Thanks for the response. Now you see my challenge. Chrome is a slippery slope. Once you add one piece it calls for another. I am Felix Unger so IF I buy the fronts from Kuryakyn to me it would seemed out of balance without the passenger boards. This leads me to the possible need to get them both chromed. The K fronts cost in the area of $120. I dont know how much more or less a chrome job could be. I do know that a chromer I used in the past did EXCELLENT work but would not give you a price until you mailed them the part first and took 6 weeks to get the item back to me. Any suggestions?

When I had passenger floorboard the were up, showing off the chrome underside unless someone's boot was on them. I don't have them on the bike anymore.

You could very easily polish them yourself to a nice finish. It only the outer edge that going to be visable, right.

Utah would you believe that I have had the scooter for over a year and NEVER flipped up the passenger boards. I have seen them up on some bikes but it never registered with me. Cant say that I like the way it looks when they are up but flipping up it is free. You are right. All I need is some bling on the side edges of the original boards. I will see how the underside of my boards look after not getting cleaned for a year. Thanks for giving me a new way to look at the subject.

Ra --- I don't know what year you have but the 1500 passenger floorboards look alot nicer than the 1600s. You might be able to adapt them to yours (if you have a 1600). I think the 1500 passenger boards are aluminum so you could probably polish them. I don't know that anyone makes chrome pass boards.

Chris:

I have a 2002 1500. It is strange that Fire and Steel did not make these boards. At 10 years old any OEM stuff is very hard to find. Its like they did not expect the bikes to last that long. I will try the chrome shop suggested above in this thread. If I cant get a back up set of boards I will wait until the snow hits the ground here in NY

I still have the oem boards on my bike, Ive thought about chrome ones but havn't pulled the trigger yet.
Getting stuff chromed here is getting very expensive, most of the places have closed up shop because of the stringent environmental controls now in place.

Those floor boards and the bracket look great. The boney knees reflected in the photo is an added bonus. lol

Those bony knees are a result of a curved chrome surface and the poor quality of the Iphone camera.
