Change the TPS voltage or add resistor to Temp Sensor

Hello all,

According to Gadgets website there are 3 ways to adjust the Air to Fuel ratio.

1. Fuel Processor
2. Add resistor to temp sensor at the Throttle body intake.
3. Change the voltage on the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor)

I don't have the money for the first one but the other 2 are do-able. Any suggestions as to which is better?

Rhys, I think Blowndodge also talked about moving the temp sensor to a cooler location in a thread a while back.

Yeah I think the idea was moving it to cooler air would have a similar effect as fooling the temp it was reading with a resistor.

I'd install a fuel processor and leave everything else alone. Adding the resistor wasn't the best way to achieve the end result.

About four years ago there was a lot of experimenting going on with adding various resisters, changing the setting on the Throttle Position Sensor and moving the air temp sensor.

None of the results were really worth the effort.

Save up your money and get a Doebek TFI.

After trying a gazillion resistors I added a TFI and moved the air temp sensor behind the chrome fork covers.

The TFI alone I could adjust it to run regular through premium. But, the TFI really couldn't do consistently with the ambient air temp. The PCM takes temp reading from 3 sensors. The air intake (super hot), the water temp sensor and the air pressure.

After moving the air temp sensor (don't forget to plug the hole left behind) I had better results with my settings not having to change them. With the sensor moved behind the forks I could run leaner with the TFI and get consistent mileage results no matter what the outside temps were. Some of you know that in the colder months the mileage would fall off running a TFI tuned for summer riding weather.

Before moving the air temp sensor my TFI was adjusted as follows: 4:15, 6:00, 1:00, 9:00.

Now It's set at 3:45, 3:15, 1:00 and 9:00. I've been running regular in 90 degree weather riding double and I haven't heard it ping yet. In Kanab I got my best mileage ever. I averaged 42 mpg's for the entire trip and I did not drive slow.
