I'm probably going to buy a beer box from a guy in Hamilton, OH. That's a little over 3 hours each way for me. My work schedule doesn't really give me enough time to make that trip (I get about 1 1/2 days off each week). I could have the seller ship it, but it seems it would be cheaper/easier/safer if there was someone around Richmond who wouldn't mind driving a bit to pick it up then meet me about 1/2 way between there and here (Peru, IN). I'd give the "shipper" some money, of course. My truck gets about 15mpg and that's alot of gas on my part. It would be cheaper for him to ship it than for me to drive down there. It's about 100 miles from my house to Richmond and another 35 or so to Hamilton. Used to make the drive every month when I was hitched as my ex was from there. Beautiful drive. If you have a HD Tour Pak on your bike already, you could probably unbolt it and temporarily bolt on the new one for the trip.

You want to pick it up in Richmond? I could probably do that.

Thanks but I was thinking somewhere in between Richmond and Peru. If I can make it as far as Richmond, I can go the extra 30 miles to Hamilton. If I have to, I'll see if he'll ship it. I'd rather pay what it would cost for shipping (maybe $30?) to someone to gently hand carry it to me (or at least most of the way). With my work schedule (and the fact I only get about 15 mpg in my truck), I don't know that it's worth me driving all the way. Shipping would be cheaper.

I just shipped a tour pak last week. FedEx was the cheapest and it was $64.21. It also cost me about $15 in bubble-wrap and shipping materials.
The box was 24x36x16 and weighted 45lbs.

Might be cheaper for me to drive to get it then. Thanks for the info.

Ive had two Tour Paks shipped, they weighed 28 lbs and cost about $58.00 to ship. With the speakers, rack, and backrest it will be larger and heavier to ship.

Mine included backrest, mounting rack, etc. I guess that's why it weight so much? Perhaps Fedex had the scale rigged....

My issue is more a time problem than a money problem (not that I have much money). I work 60-75 hours/week which doesn't leave me much time to drive 140 miles (each way) to pick it up. I don't have a problem with him shipping it (assuming he will) I just think it would be safer (and probably cheaper) if someone was close to his and and wanted to meet me in the middle somewhere. I've had one offer (that I really appreciate) but the closest he could get would still be about 100 miles away.
I'm not going to lose sleep over this even if I don't get it. I don't know that I can sell my Nomad any time soon and if I can't, I'd like a beer box. This seems like a good deal so I'll try to get it. If not, I'm good.
