View Full Version : Vaquero Side Stand

I received the Side Stand for an 07 Meanstreak Special Addition. The Side Stand is shiny instead of flat black but that's okay. You can see the size difference in the photo's attached. This difference is completely noticeable when laying the bike over to rest on the side stand. The bike sits up higher and is easier to roll up off of the stand. You also don't get the pucker effect like you forgot to put it down. I am happy to report that this mod is a complete success and I do believe the wife will be very happy with it.

Nice job Spazz! Way to keep the wifey happy! When it's time for me to trade the 'Nad in for a Vaquero, I'll probably do this as a first mod/project.
Cheri, glad you like it! I bet it does make it easier to use.

Omg!!!!!!!:wtf:
Rich is the man who can casually spend money like that!:yep:
Now the conforming crowd is gonna ride you about trying to make your Meanie look like a Vaquero. Your a self loathing mean Meanstreet hater. You by making your kickstand longer are trying to make yourself feel better about other things that ain't very long either. :yep:
I'm juss sayin'. :ohno:
Done heard it all.
Oh, I like the stand. Envious that I can't afford one and you can.:D

He didn't buy the kickstand for himself.
He bought it for his wife, so money was not the main object.
Making the wife happy was and that is how it should be.
I'll bet $85 was a small price to pay for spazz to see the big smile on Cheriann's face.

What the hell can a women do with a kickstand? :???:
To show you appreciate a women, you make a promise to take her fishing with you someday.
Women like things like,,,,,,,,,,a new dust pan or,,,,,,,,,,,,,one of them things to cook muffins wiff,,,,,,,or a new apron to bring you dinner in the recliner. Things that have a use for women. :yep:
I've been quite generous and financed a vacuum cleaner before, it's not like I'm a knuckle dragging, slack jawed, ogre tight wad or something. :hmm:

Actually, picking it up and putting it down is easy enough for me....however I didn't like how far down the bike went when I put the kickstand down. The new kickstand made a HUGE difference! :yep:
Also, Chaz got the part numbers and idea from another member in here (that saw it in another forum). If other people are doing it, I must not be the only one that didn't like it!! :P

THAT'S A GOOD ONE...LMFAO!!
I run a taller rear tire which REALLY had my skoot leaning over, much more than a stock Vaquero, so one day i took the sidestand off and compared it to the s/s from a 1600 Vulcan. The 1600 stand was longer, but when installed just didn't make up for the taller rear tires added bike height. So i cut/welded and made the stand longer...

AGAIN.......I can lift the bike up and down just fine. I was riding hubby's Nomad now and then before I got this bike. I work out and my legs are strong (I ride my pedal bicycle for exercise on local bike paths)....it was MORE that I didn't like the feeling of the bike leaning so far over on the kickstand. :wtf:

The bike wasn't going to fall over unless you parked it on an incline but it was still nice of him to buy you the kickstand. I added a good deal of weight up high (fairing) and my Nomad leans over more than most other bikes. I never worry about it falling over.

In the end it really does not matter where the stand was ordered from, a dealer or flea-bay, the price paid, or if SOMEONE ELSE has never had any issue with the kickstand on their skoot or some other skoot, or not.
The fact is that many of us don't like the attitude these skoots sit at when parked, why the skoot has to lean over so far and why do we have to lift the skoot up so far to saddle up?
Why do we have to put up with a kickstand design that is like many other things in life just wrong, and by golly has room for change and improvement?
In working on Jap skoots for 35 1/2 years i have come to know the Japs REAL well, i'm almost japanese by association. Every now and then, and i do mean ONLY every now and then the Japs do something that has me scratching my head why did they do that? The throttle lag on these Vulcans is rediculous, and the attitude of the skoot when parked is another example of why-why-why? I just don't see such an excessive lean angle on 99.9% of the skoots i have seen/worked on/ridden in almost 40 years of having skoots in my life.
Changing the k/s, installing a different doo-dad for whatever reason or making an improvement that is exactly that, to just ourselves, is as personal as wiping one's own butt and we make these changes to please ourselves and to make life easier, better and to enjoy our skoots more.
Just makes alot of sense to me, anyone else??

Interesting thread....this is what might solve my problem. I have an 07 Vulcan 1500 Classic FI that came with other than stock shocks. When I put it on the kickstand, it feels like it's going over. Way too much lean. Very difficult to bring it upright.
I did a search on the part number and BikeBandit no longer carries it. Anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks...

I felt my 05 Nomad leant over way more than it should for no good reason. If the longer kickstand makes the bike more enjoyable for you and easier to handle then why not ? If guys spend ten thousand bucks to trike their bike to make life easier then $84 for a longer kickstand is a no brainer.

We just came back from Americade and Lanconia. I was SO happy to have my new kickstand when parking so close to other bikes! When I parked, I knew my bike wasn't going to lean over too far into the bike next to me.

Sometimes these guys will jump on the most inane, esoteric subject and absolutely beat it to death. Just don't pay too much attention and don't let it bother you, Cheriann.
You weren't happy with the Vaquero sidestand, so you made it better for you. That's all that matters.

Thanks guys! :D
I guess there are still some that may be interested in mods that can help or hurt a Vaquero....I'll get an updated picture to post.
I did get the throttle mod, and I LOVE it! Quick throttle response
I got the Corbin seat with the driver's backrest and just recently got the passenger backrest too. I don't plan on riding many passengers, but I do find that I like to cargo net some things there from time to time....like a cooler for sodas. On our recent trip, I let Chaz ride it and I jumped....wait, I SQUEEZED into the passenger's seat behind him!!!! His bike had the trailer hooked up and we were all going to grab a bite for dinner. OMG! That Corbin seat is NOT made for a "normal" passenger!!!! I had plenty of room on my 900 Corbin and plenty of room on hubby's Nomad Corbin. So it must be the amount of space available for the seat on the Vaquero.
After adding the Corbin seat, I was sitting further back and we just installed blacked out risers from Scootworks! I love them!
Let's see...what else did I do :hmm:

I drilled the foot in my kickstand, bought a hockey puck, drilled and csk it, then ran a bolt and a chrome spike nut thru it. It adds 1 inch to the stand and makes for more security on hot macadam surfaces.
