My Dunlop E3 Bias rear tire may not last as long as a car tire but I am feeling good about what it looks like (see pic below) after 14,088 miles.
Tread depth is about 4 to 5/32. I will probably run it another 2,000 miles. Then change it regardless of what it looks like. I will be buying another one, very satisfied.
I run it at 40 PSI. 99% riding solo, mostly secondary rural roads and highway.

Thats a very respectable life span for a rear tire, you must be a very gentle rider to get it to last like that.

that is pretty impressive, I've got about 5000 more miles before i have to figure out what I want to replace the stock tires on my vaquero with. In the past I've always gone with metzlers but thinking about trying something different this go around, these will go on my list of possabilities.

That is impressive, well, not to the car tire guys, but I just had to replace my Avon Cobra because it was down to the wear bar at 11,780 miles and I am a very easy going rider.
I would like to try the Continental Milestone tires but the rear does not come in 180/70x16.
Glad to hear you're getting great mileage on them. I put a set of E3s on my bike last year and I'm also pleased at the good wear I'm getting out of them. Might just stick with them again next time.

Good to know, I made a note of Dunlop E3s.
Thanks, Schoeney.
I had 17000 miles on the rear E3 bias before replacing it. I had the 160/80/16 and was very happy with the wear, handling and traction. It did make a lot of noise when cornering after it was about halfway worn. I went with Avon Venoms this time around only because the Dunlops were on back order and it was time to hit the road.

I've been happy with my E3. I have about 14, 000 on mine and will be replacing it soon. Want to make sure I have plenty of tread so I can play on the curves in the mountains in June. My tire has mileage from going to the National Rally in SD and mountain riding since then. I'm not a gentle rider in the curves.

I just replaced rear Dunlop E-3 on my Gold Wing and it had just over 30,000 miles and still had tread left. I bought another one. You just cannot beat that kind of mileage on a bike tire.

the 160/80-16 e-3 bias is the replacement tire for the 1500 goldwing and they wear and handle great.i have been running them on my 08 nomad for about 3 years now with complete satisfacction.i am about 6000 miles into
my second set now with no noticebal wear.

30,000 miles? Wow.
Hey Bob, how many miles were you getting out of your E3's? Congrats on the new bike!

Sho (et all) Preface this with I get good mileage out of tires. I changed the OEM rear Stones on my 07 at 12,800 then again at 27,400. The fronts at 20,300 and again at 40,200 which is way different than most report with the stones. Put a 160/80 E-3 on rear at the 27,400 change cause I got for $99 at a little independant that was closing else I would have just tossed another stone on. Bike turned over 45,000 last night. E-3 is there and still has decent tread so that is 17,400 and I am guessing it will go over 20,000 before needing replacement. The only anoyance was that around 6,000 miles it had started to cup and at 10,000 I seriously considered replacing it because in the more extreme turns it left the bike feeling "unsettled" but in the last 4,000 miles the cuped wear seems to be reversing it self.
The Dunlops are good tires as they are but Dunlop needs to solve the cuping before they are great tires. A note here, the OEM Dunlops on my gold wing cuped also and that seems to be a problem common to all their Cruise/touring tires. I put radial stones on the wing and like them better.
Tires are like oil though, many good choices exist so buy what you think works best.

Ross, Good to know, thanks I will watch for that. Mine is not cupping yet (at least none that I can see or feel)but I did start to get a faint buzzing in the turns recently but not as bad as the OEM Brickstone. Still handling fine.
