As a new Nomad owner, Mother Kawasaki sent me the paperwork offering me the Kawasaki Good Times Protection Plan (KGTPP). Since the Nomad came with a 2 year warranty, I decided to hold off on buying any additional years at this time.
??? ??? ???
My concern and question to everyone is:

Is anyone else using this program[/*:m:x4ns6zru]
Does the aftermarket pipes, BAK, etc. void the warranty[/*:m:x4ns6zru]
What does it really cover, etc. etc.[/*:m:x4ns6zru]

Hope to hear from many of you... http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Thanks, what mods have you put on so far?

I plan on buying this as well but not till next year. I have about 6 months left on my 2 years so i will buy about 4 more years coming next year since I plan to keep the monster she is for awhile. I have not had to do any warranty work so cant help you there. I asked my dealer if I would void my warranty if I put aftermarket stuff on. They said they would not honor it if the cause of the problem was due to my mod on the bike otherwise they would cover it no problems asked.

My 5 year plan just went out this year. I got V&H pipes and a BAK (thunder Odyssey)and TFI. My dealer had no problem with anything I did, said it would not void warranty. The best thing to do is ask the dealer and keep a good relation with them.

I don't like to buy insurance against myself. If I thought two years wasn't enough from MaKaw I wouldn't buy their product. Most problems will manifest withing two years otherwise I think you are just betting against yourself..JMHO.

When I looked at the exclusions on the policy, I wasn't 100% sure of what would be covered!! Since everything that I thought would go wrong was on the exclusion page. ???

You can buy a warranty cheaper on Ebay than MaKaw from what I understand.

One of the guys in my SCRC chapter bought it through Ebay. It is a Kaw dealer, but offering it cheaper on Ebay from what I understand. I think this is the dealer he went through on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Kawasaki-4-yr-extended-warranty-Good-Times-Protection_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ10066QQihZ01 9QQitemZ290158970459QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

There are others on there.

I did not extend my 2 yr either - it just ran out last month. Moma kawa seems to stand behind their products pretty good. Two stories to share:

1. Hubbie had a 99 Nomad...was the second owner...at 23,000 miles the POG did it's thing......kawa fixed it without blinking an eye and no fees. (no warranty in place and this was not actually a recall - but as they came in they fixed them).

2. My 05 Nomad - heat shield came off/ fell off one of my stock pipes Sept - Kawa dealer replaced - taking one off one of his nomads on the showroom floor - no fees/ no hassel.

Scion0- Most of Nomad owners with '99 Kawa can tell you about the plastic oil gear...they did not hold up and have to be replaced.....believe me you will know when it goes out....speys oil everywhere. They are made of some kinda metal after that year.

Price is 350 bucks for 4 years. Says he sells a lot of them is why he can undercut by over half (reg. over $700.00). Still leary though, not sure why. :-/ ???

I see that many on this board have bought them from eBay.

Buyer beware on Ebay, my tcw!

Hey Doc,
Have you bought from the guy on Ebay? I don't think the guy I know who bought on Ebay had any problems. Then again, I don't know if he has had to use that warranty. Just wondering.

WOW,buying warranties on E-Bay for 350.00 sounds to good to be true, here in Alberta I purchased a Kawi. warranty for a 1000.00,good for 5 years and coverage is the same as the first 2 years. If your like me and not a great Mechanic it could be money well spent.

I think it depends on your own peice of mind and how mechanicaly inclined you are, Myself Im pretty handy with mechanical stuff so Im not concerned about a problem that may never arise. Vulcans are pretty bulletproof overall and if there was a problem I would bet it shows up within the factory warranty period. If it was me I would save my money and take my chances. On my 02 Nad the extended warranty was never used once.

I bought a non-Kawasaki "fender to fender" warranty from my Kawasaki dealer good for 5 years $550. fixes anything, no deductable.

I've used this warranty on my Vulcan 750's... so I purchased it on my Nomad.

Wow, that almost sounds too good to be true. Have you taken him up on any repairs yet?

I had to negotiate that price. They started at $1200 and I kept telling them no! I said it's not worth it. They asked what I'd be willing to pay I said $500, they said $550, I said OK. I wonder how many people pay the $1200.
This insurance is what my Kawasaki dealer sells and what they accept for work in their shop.
