Hey it's OK. It won't be long now. Just some of the things we put up with to live here. We just keep it in perspective http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
No hurricanes or floods or earthquakes or poisonous snakes or tornados........We can put up with a little snow http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

I'd rather have the poisonous snakes and earthquakes than snow. But, that's just me. Wait, we do have poisonous snakes here and scorpions and coyotes and javelina. Naw, you keep the snow, I'll live dangerously.

Four Wheel Drive GMC http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif No, they aren't as bad as they look in my pics. Some places are bare and some are real slushey. We are used to driving in this stuff. You just can't go as fast as you do the rest of the year.

You only have to wait for the spring thaw to bury your dead...

That is true BD. The ground is frozen. When someone passes they are embalmed, then we have the funeral and the body is taken to the cemetery and put in a building ( don't know the correct name for the building ) till spring.
Then in the spring we have another shorter ceremony when the deceased is buried.
So looking at the bright side, when we die we get two ceremonies for the price of one http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

That's what happened with Doc Holliday when he died in Glenwood Springs, CO. It was in the dead of winter when he died and they buried him in a shallow grave in a valley until Spring at which time they could bury him at the cemetary at the top of a mountain.

Many say he is still buried there, there is a marker in the town cemetary, but rumors persist that his Father traveled from Georgia, exumed the body and took it back by train to Georgia.

OK, so much for history.

Trip, speaking of old western history, have you ever seen the show "Wild West Tech" on the history channel? That is along the lines of some of their stories. It is pretty interesting.

TC - when I saw the title of the thread and that you started the thread....I thought....no way! You fooled me for a minute too. ;)

I enjoyed riding around in upper state New York.......In July! But those snowmobile trails look like they would be fun.

unwind2 , yeah, snomobiles are fun but people have been getting themselves killed here latley. Ride from bar to bar and then go 90 mph on the trails. If your not familiar with the turns you hit trees. Then there is the people who come over blind hills on the wrong side of the trail, headon into somebody coming the other way.
They were fun in my younger dats but I wouldn't ride one today.
I'll wait for spring http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Yep, I watch it all the time. It's a very interesting show...especially when they spotlighted the hangings that they had in the old west.

Believe it or not, there is a pair of unmarked cement tombs in the cemetary in Griffin, Georgia. They believe that Doc Holliday's Father is buried in one and Doc is in the other.

Thanks JussMatt , I'm ready to ride. I retired last Sept. and this will be the first time in 44 years , weather permiting, I can ride anytime I want. Maybe thats why this winter seems to be so long. No, wait, last winter seemed long also http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
Have you lived in Texas all your life or did you move south from a colder climate like a lot of folks do?
I'm really tempted to give up the winters. Cindy said she will go any where with me http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif She's a sweetheart :)
