I know someone suggested we should create a separate area for political posts. I was wondering if that suggestion ever went anywhere or how we get the admin to give some input?
I too think it is a good idea.
I do post an occassional poiltical post and don't mind reading/posting in a separate area. I can see where people that frequent the "off topic" area and are not interested in political posts would get tired of sorting through the political stuff. Sometimes the titles are not obvious.

I'm not big on the political crap . . . If not for the friends I've made in person on rides and rallies, I may have dropped the forum for that very reason.
I don't subscribe to any political party. I'm of the thought that nobody short of God Himself gets to control the end of days. I don't allow my vote to be swayed by :bs: off of the computer. :ohno:

I try to stay away from religion and politics.
there are 4 or 5 people on the off topic forum
that get vary abusive of anyone with a differing view. Witch is almost always the case when it come to politics.
I would even suggest having a liberal thread and a conservative thread.

I would rather it not be anywhere here at all. Other than perhaps some major political news headline, I'm not that interested in politics. After all this is a bike related forum, and thats what I like to discuss a lot more.
I mostly stay clear of them as well. I can understand some people find it interesting, but for me I have a hard enough time staying up to date on Canadian politics.

I tend to agree with Ring. I don't think we need a whole new section for politics. That may encourage people to seek out political articles, videos, jokes, etc, which would ruin a motorcycle forum. If it's a major headline, than we already know about it and again, don't need it on the forum.

What surprises me about the "off-topic" board is how little anything other than politics gets discussed on it.
Very little talk of sports, or the concert someone saw last night or CD they just bought.
etc. etc.

If you've been around as long as some of us have...let's face it...you can only talk about aftermarket seats, air mods, debaffles and fuel processors so many times..... I can see where having a seperate section would be a good idea. That way you only have to go there if you want to.
Personally, I like a spirited political debate, and try hard not to get "abusive" or "demeaning" in doing so. It may be a bike forum....but that does not mean we can't debate other issues.....especially those that relate to our basic freedoms. I suspect those that participate in the political threads follow politics pretty closely and have a thick skin as a result. If the political threads get too hot for your kitchen, maybe you should go out and polish some more chrome....:D:cheers:!
Mark...
Maybe they won't let you in Canada....but at least you can still vote, eh...?

I got my rights reinstated in 1997 except for the right to bear arms. I could have filed for that too, but didn't. Then after 9-11-01 all the rules changed. Now it would take a Presidential Pardon, it's not that important to me.

On the off-topics board just now there were 25 posts on the first page. 3 were political posts, or 8%.
Hardly a majority count of the postings...

Not to split hairs but I counted 7 of 25 at 6:49PM (28%). I realize it can change at any time. I don't think it has ever been a majority. Is there harm in creating a separate area? I am just trying to be considerate of our non political members.
If we don't create a separate area might I suggest we voluntarily start the title of any new political thread with the word "Politics" so the non interested members can skip over it. i.e. "Politics- Florida Nightmare!"

It is prity common to throw in some presidential comment(bashing)or someother political comment in any thread that goes long enough.
I dont mind staying out of the kitchen.I dont want to be in the kitchin in the first place. I just want to know where the kitchen is

Well, here's my two cents worth: On the front page there are 14 separate forums. Under these are 28 sub-forums. Total of 42.
I think that is enough.
I also don't think we need to start adding rules about what needs to be in the subject line or title of each thread.
At one time, there were some that didn't like to open a thread and find out it was a joke. It was suggested that every thread that was a joke have the word "joke" in the title. Now it's politics.
I really don't think we need to start with any more rules.

New rule: No drinking and typing.
On a second thought............we'd probably loose about 80% of the posts if that was a rule.

Personally, I don't care if 99% of the threads are political. I just don't want to read them. It would be the decent thing to do if the original poster would include [Political] in the thread title. That way I (and others) would know to skip it.

Does anyone know he was in the hospital or why?

No more rules. Rules are for fools.
No new topic line for politics. JMO
If you guys want to start a politcal thread... feel free. That's what the "Off-Topic" board was created for. But remember, it's not what you talk about in the off-topic area.... it's HOW you talk about it.
While I try to accomodate as best I can, I see no need to create a separate board to discuss politics. Just remember that everyone needs to be thick-skinned while in there.

why is this even a topic? As was posted earlier, if a conservative is a vegetarian he doesn't buy meat. If a liberal is a vegetarian he want's to ban meat for all. There! how that for politics.. "ban all political views because it hurts me!"
Maybe it's because "politics" to some sounds like "calculus" to them..?? :hmm:

We do have many categories, but I agree it would be nice to be able to easily avoid political extremists. After a several years on this site, I am learning who is not friendly, or is childish, and I try to navigate around any of their posts. Anything that makes the navigation easier, is welcomed by me.

Then theres there gentle nudge towards the slippery slope. Lets put it over there, lets put it on another page, lets charge for it, make 'em shut the freak up, let's execute 'em. :yep:
