One of the things I didn't like about the HD fairing (or at least the way it's mounted) is the fact that there's no support for the bottom of the inner. The only thing holding the inner on the bike are the 2 bolts at the top (just under the windshield). (If you've done the HD fairing, you know what I'm talking about.) I figured out a way to fix this.
I cut/bent/drilled a couple pieces of 22ga steel (you could use thicker stuff but it's not holding any weight so it should be fine) and attached them as shown in the pics. I'm using Freedom Wings which only use the 2 middle holes (on the edges) so the lower most hole was free. I got 4 bolts (and 2 lock nuts) the same size as what fits in the threaded holes on the edges. I bolted the bracket to the back side of the fairing and drilled one hole (each side) on Joes bracket. If I paint the main brackets black, you'd never know they were there as you only see a tiny bolt head and just the hint of metal. I could/should grind the "bracket" to the same size as the bolt head but it wasn't critical right now. I'll probably do that (and maybe remake them from some 18ga I have handy) sometime this summer if I keep the bike.
This isn't rocket science (good for me) but it may be something useful for other HD fairing guys.
