Looking for a little input from 1700 owners that have installed the AutoTune module. I'm thinking of adding the Autotune module on my Vaquero. I'd like to know where is the optimal installation point for the sensor? I know that a bung will need to be welded into the exhaust...I'm just trying to figure out where to achieve best results. Are you pleased with the way the Autotune works? Any input you have would be appreciated.

i dont have one for my pcv. the bung will have to go behind where both pipes of the 1 and 2 cylinders come together. this way its getting a true reading of both cylinders. if you go in front of the joint your only sampling the no.1 or no.2 cylinder. depends on which you drilled.

What I think is funny is that you're talking about making a bung hole. Haha

Hahahaha...yeah, I don't much care for the term either, but thats what they call it. It's my understanding that you first drill a hole in the exhaust, then weld a nut on top of that allowing the sensor to be screwed in. Geeze, that description doesn't sound right either...lol

As a home wine maker I'm used to working with bungs and bung holes....

If you don't want to mount that baby in the bung hole I know Scott would!!! :tehe::hmm::yep:

I thought the autotune could support multiple o2 sensors, is this not accurate?
If so on any v twin you would want 2 since the temp difference on the 2 cylinders is going to be rather different.
Either way props to you guys for gettng closed loop!
EDIT: It does the part# is AT-300 and AT-100 However I don't know if the unit itself is different or if you are paying more for a second wideband o2.

Man I wish they had an offering for the 1600. It sucks that the factory was open loop, with PCIII you are open loop and only quasi know where you sit.

Interesting....my previous bike, a V2K, only had one O2 sensor from the factory, and if I remember correctly, it was located on the rear pipe?
The exhaust on the Vaquero goes from 2 into 1 then back to 2. Seems to me that installing the sensor near the point where the both pipes combine into one, would be the logical location to install the sensor for the most accurate readings. After reading the installation instructions from DynoJet, that's their recommendation as well. While installing 2 sensors might give more accurate readings, the logistics of finding space to install them might be quite an issue.

i thought about an auto tune too but the hassle of drilling and welding just wasnt worth it to me. plus you gotta then ride like 200 mi or something for it to make changes.

The factory did better then most everyone, however cost was a major consideration.
This just depends on if you want the average mixture of the 2 cylinders as thats all 1 o2 is going to do. You could inverse this logic and think 1 fuel injector would work. It would work just not as effectively as 2, and they are only as good as the ECM driving them.
1 is better then none have no doubt.
For Harley Davidson models we ever monitor and adjust each cylinder individually for increased precision as on these models required fueling can vary significantly between the front and rear cylinder.

It’s the V Twin design but really any gas engine would benefit from 1:1 ration between injector, combustion chamber and o2 feedback. I would assume being water cooled work to our advantage to even the temperatures.

Click the link, its one of the few closed loop fuel injection systems for bikes aftermarket.
