One of my Compound brother's and good friends Robert Tolleson went down in Tyler, TX around 6;30p yesterday, no helmet landed on face. Dr says 0%, but he seems to be pulling through. He is still on a vent, but has responded to pain, and his wifes touch and voice. He lifted his hand and tried to turn his head toward her this morning. The boys were on a run to see a brother pick up a 12 yr sobriety chip. Looks like a car clipped him sending him into a curb. C3 and 4 are crushed. prayers are much appreciated. He is 62. ?His heart stopped for more than 10 minutes, he had lungs full of blood.

This is another example of why we need to wear our helmets. Not saying his outcome would have been any different, but it wouldn't have been any worse.

I'm afraid the news story I found doesn't mention any involvement from a car.

" TYLER, TX (KETK) - — Tyler PD Dispatch was notified of a major traffic accident involving a motorcycle on Jan. 28, 2012 at 6:25 p.m. Officers’ responded to the scene located in the 5000 Block of Paluxy Dr. Upon arrival, officers’ determined that the accident was a single vehicle accident involving a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle. A group of motorcycles were riding southbound on Paluxy when the rear motorcycle lost control and struck the outer southbound curb. The motorcycle was operated by a white male, 63 years of age. The driver was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. He was transported to ETMC by EMS with serious injuries received in the accident.

Will pray for God's will in his recovery. Will pray for the family. We had one of our Friends of Bill W. just return from a rather long hospital stay. Went down and under an 18 wheeler. He's doing fine now, so , as it was said before, there is hope.

Update***

They did a Trac. for the vent yesterday. He still hasn't woken up.. they took him off of pain meds and anesthetics 2 days ago and his blood pressure got over 200.... Put him back on meds... Main issues right now are swelling in brain and infection in lungs.. he is still in a neck brace and they can't address c3 and 4 separation until he is more stable.. he responds to pain and has held up fingers for nurses.. nothing has gotten worse and all things considered he is doing well for a 63yr old with the severity of injuries.. they have reduced sedation and are trying to get him off the meds.. his nick name in the PGR is psycho and he rode a white 2006 Yamaha v4 (royal star?) I went with his wife to pick up the bike... It wasn't damaged very badly... Crash bars/ lowers are bent... He went through the windshield... It's been a crazy week sorry for the delayed update

And so it goes. That happened to Gary Busey. Less bike damage than that. They said if he had worn a helmet, he would have gotten up and walked away. In your friends case that probably isn't true, but he would have been better off. I hope he recovers.

Update from Dora- Robert's wife - Another update on Robert. They have turned OFF the sedation meds completley and talken him off the pain med and just giving it too him as needed through iv. He has been responding to me all day I will tell him something and then tell him to squeeze my hand if he heard me and every time he has done that he also responded to his mother and sister, still on ventalator but baby steps, but today has been awesome. Can't thank all of you for the prayers just keep them coming

As for the other posters, I thank you for your prayers and input. He wasn't the best father IMO "but my job, is to reside on the soil and lend = to my take. God will decide his fate and final residence. I know he was like the rest of us, able to do right, and likely to do wrong as it is easier. But he was a man, expect no perfection. What little time had with him, I truly embrace.

My fondest memory of him is of the day he convinced my mother to let him stop at a Honda dealer. After a few minutes consultation with a sales member, we took a trail 90' out back. I remember the guy saying "stay with me and just go slow" Uhmmm.. 2mph was even in my list of chit to do!" After the third hump on the track, I opened the throttle and let her rip! My mother was livid!! The salesman was ranting for me to return and I just gave it hell! A powerslide at Moms ankle resulted in a backhand that is forget-less. A minibike was out the window and not up for discussion for the next 15 years LOL

Pop, get better. Lots of folks are counting on you!
