Talked to Pez today... nice guy... should have replacement front speakers this week..Looks like they will fit the Vaqueros and Voyagers.. looks like their will be a forum discount... will let ya know when I hear more but I will be getting a set for sure...
He said we have a really good radio its just the speakers that sux.. These he will have are direct replacement.. And he said sound and volume are better.. He also might have a amp kit in the near future that will work with these speakers... So i'm going to order a set and see...maybe later a amp,,but according to Pez with these speakers I may never want to order that amp

Thanks

I would hope they sound better, or what's the point of replacing them? It figures that the speakers are probably the weak link in the whole system.

No offense... but the size of the magnet doesn't count like it used to.

Some speakers have smaller, rare-earth magnet components combined with superior coiling and speaker material to produce a far better quality sound than some with larger magnets.

But... having said that... I know what you mean when it is obvious the thing is a piece or crap!

That's right Greg, keep telling yourself that "size doesn't matter", if it makes you feel better. :D

From HogTunes,,,,Pez....
Speakers are now in and shipping. The speakers are $109.95 plus shipping. We will offer the KW forum guys a deal of $100 delivered, and we will give one of our 90 degree audio cables used to plug an external audio device into the aux in on the front of the radio—another $14.95 value
...or he said $95 shipped with out adapter...

We do not have the website up on line yet, but if the forum members call us and say they are a forum member, we will do that deal for them
got mine ordered,,,

We have a aux jack on the front of radio? Mine is in storage offsite, but I don't think I have that, unless referring to something similar to the Kaw plug in the left glove box...

Hello, I received a pair of Hogtune speakers from the dealer I bought my bike from they were given to them by the distributor as a raffle prize. The dealer gave them to me since I just bought the bike. I installed them and they were not even close to being as good as the stock speakers. Maybe I just got a bad set. Either way now I have an extra set I can't use.

I experienced the same results, the H/T speakers have been sittin under my work bench after only in my skoot for maybe 2 days...it is claimed they are 20% louder and they were prolly 20% QUIETER, and had no bass.

Others have added an amp from rockford/fosgate to drive the H/T speakers to get the full benifit of them, and have reported much better sound than the stock system.
Gotta save some $$ to get the amp, then i can install the H/T speakers.

Rockford Fosgate PBR300X4. My Voyager system sounds great now. Just wish the 5 1/4 inch speakers could make a bit more bass.

Yep, I was screwed by Hogtunes too! Lots of promises but a substandard result with no support or solution from them. Maybe that's what happens when the speakers say "Designed in Canada, Made in China". I have a couple of expensive paperweights now!!!!

while I hate to see anyone getting screwed I have to say I'm glad I've read this post. I was womdering if the HogTunes speakers would fit our bikes and had kicked around the idea of looking into it, thanks to this thread I know not to bother. While speaker quality plays a big part of sound quality I've always thought that a good amp does the most good as far as cleaning up the sound quality.

I have no issues with the stock speakers on my Voyager. They sound fine to me.

You keep leaving off your post the fact you bought your speakers from a 3rd party on Amazon and Pez told you he wasn't going to refund you money on them and you refused to go back to the Amazon dealer because he wants a restocking fee.
Everyone is sympathetic you feel you got screwed but be upfront on the whole story.
Those of us that installed an amp (http://vaqueroampinstall.blogspot.com/ (http://vaqueroampinstall.blogspot.com/)) are happier now that we have some power behind the H/T speakers and NOW they perform as stated by H/T, unfortunately they should put that on their web so you know they really need some power behind them.
Although myself and another friend here in AZ were quite happy with the sound prior, I installed an amp and he has no intentions of that because he likes to sound as is.

You keep forgetting to mention that Hogtunes misrepresented their product and made false claims. If Hogtunes would address and fix the problem, I would be content. They did no R&D on these speakers on our bikes. They just recently got a bike to test the amp on. They gambled with my money, and you endorsed them! Where is their magical amp that is needed to run the speakers? It does not exist and is not for sale.

I claimed and still do, the speakers as they came out of the box, worked great on my bike and was totally satisfied with the quality and volume of them, as was my wife riding on the back of my bike.
My friend here who has Vaquero # 2 sold in Phoenix, (I have #1) is still happy with the quality of the HT speakers also.
How do you know what HT did or didn't do? Simple you don't!
You are simply disgruntled because Pez told you to stuff it on the refund, as he was justified to do, you didn't buy from him to save $10 and that is in your first post regarding the speakers. You also stated you couldn't return them to the store you got them from because he wanted $20-25 restock fee (if I'm not remembering correctly, please advise)
As for the amp, you are correct HT has not completed the R&D for the plug-n-play side for the KawiBaggers, they continue to work on it. J&P Audio in Tucson is just starting the R&D on their offering to the KawiBagger owners, I know this because I have been in contact with John and found him a Vaquero owner that was willing to let J&P use his bike for R&D, all great news for us.
As for the magic Amp, I have one and it works great, it's called a Rockford Fosgate PBR300X2 and I installed it myself because I wasn't willing to wait, otherwise my bike would be sitting in the J&P audio lab right now, I offered and John said it would be better if he had a totally stock bike to start with. Completely understandable.
As for your issue, no one can help you with that!

I guess sound is subjective based on ones ears. I installed the Hog Tunes speakers in my Vaquero and am quite pleased. I just did a 175 mile trip today at speeds around 75, and had no problems hearing what I thought was pretty good sound (I do have a 12" shield). I agree you do have to turn up the volume a bit more, but think the sound is much crisper and cleaner than the stock speakers. No doubt an amp would improve sound with any speakers, but for my ears, I don't feel the need.

I have the 2012 Voyager and never have to increase volume pass 12. This is with stock shield wich is taller than the Vaquero. I also wear a full face helmet.
