Does anybody know what kind of XM receiver I will need for my 2012 Voyager? They have one from Dealer.. But $479.00 is a little too much for some tunes.

You can get receivers for under $100. Depends on what options you want.

They don't just have any XM receiver at the dealer, it's designed to interface with the sound system on the Voyager. You can buy other XM receivers (Google is your friend) but it wouldn't be the same.

Having said that, I refuse to pay the $499 Harley wants for their SiriusXM adapter for my bike. But if I wanted satellite radio, that's the way I'd go.

BestBuy has a XM receiver for radios that are XM ready, but I have no idea if it's adaptable to, or usable with, the Kawasaki radio. Otherwise, you're looking at a regular aftermarket XM unit and pushing it through your radio via auxiliary input or FM receiver, and using the controls of the XM unit rather than the controls already integrated into the bike.

I would buy the Kawasaki unit in a heartbeat if it were under $200. The current price will never work for me. XM already has me a bit upset at their constant additions of DJ's, talk shows, commercials, and syndicated FM rebroadcasts. They insist they haven't raised the rates, but less music at the same price seems like a hike to me. Plus, once included benefits now cost extra, e.g. online access.
I think the current network of record labels is trying to control what we hear just like they do with FM already. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-rolleyes004.gif (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php)

If the MSRP for the receiver is $479 you should negotiate the purchase as part of the purchase of the Voyager. I negotiated a 20% discount on any Kawasaki Accessory I buy for the Voyager as long as I own it.

There is definitely a 40% markup on those accessories, so you should be able to negotiate some kind of discount. 15% off is real easy to find on the internet.

Try www.accessories4bikes.com (http://www.accessories4bikes.com) and see what they can get it for. Bought several factory accessories from them and no problem thus far.
