Anybody tried the Bagger shield ? I've been looking at it and the rifle??? I'm 5' 10". Have a gel seat coming so I believe it will raise me up a little more..prefer the looks of a dark shield and look over it. What ya'll think of bagger shield? Opinions please, and size? 12"?
Thanks Crab

Crab, I'm not familiar with the "bagger" shield or "rifle", but here's the one I installed on my vaquero. -See link below- I'm 6'1" and this 9" shield is barely tall enough. It's a joy to use, but you're right, when I put my gel seat on, the shield becomes almost too short, but still better than the stock windscreen. My goal was to stay as short as possible, so I guess I succeeded :)

The nice thing about Cee-Bailey is you can get a variety of tints in any height (they do custom heights too).

Windvest now makes a flip up shield for the Voyager/Vaquero that gives you 3" of additional wind protection. A friend of mine installed a 9" that gives you the protection of a 12" shield on his Vaquero. He's very happy with it, and it looks great.

See, now if Kaw was serious about these bikes, they'd build the Vaquero/Voyager with an electric windshield that you could raise or lower like on a Vision.

I wonder why Harley hasn't come up with that one....

I can't see how it could work in a batwing fairing, maybe in a Road Glide?

Harley isn't necessarily the cutting edge of technology, so I wouldn't put much pressure on them to come up with anything new on their own. - Besides, the Cross Country is a fork mounted fairing just like the batwings.

With one foot on my soapbox:
People complain about the unorthodox looks of the new Kawasaki's as it is. It seems most things non-traditional for a bike earn a "not my cup of tea" reaction. Do you really think those same critics would appreciate the tracks running up the windscreen? From my observations they would praise its function but still not buy into it because it's not traditional, or cost too much. Kudos to Victory for giving it a shot.

My baggershield (8 - 12.5") should be arriving this week, decided to give it a try. I am 6' and on stock seat.

Don't know when I can offer a review, I am in the middle of a wet heavy snowfall with 6" so far, and no sign of letting up.

I am hoping to ride with the tinted 8" most of the time, but do have a 17 mile 55mph zone ride to work. If I have major buffeting around my helmet, noise in ears, and can't hear the radio, I will probably buy a taller one.

If the 8" works decent for me, I then plan to use the 12.5" flip up if heading out on a major highway /distance trip, then flop it back down for the more local riding.

It's a brand new product and likely not on their website. I suggest a call to them for information.

Went through the stock ws, was too low, then went with a 12" from Kawasaki, too high and sold it along with the stock one.

Bought me a dark smoked 9" from Cee Baileys and it is just right for me, I am 5'9" and I just look over it and thus get a small amount of air in the summer to keep me a little cooler and not too much in winter so that I still stay warmer, of course my soft lowers from Classic Chaps also help in winter time.

that's what I've been doing - and its either too much noise/air or not enough protection - looking at this new flip lip looking shield now prolly split the difference - maybe 10"

My clearview is supposed to be delivered Wednesday 5/8, very excited to try it out. I went with the medium which I believe will be very close to my current baggershield, but offer better protection with the lip, and look better (IMHO)

What is a good height for a 6'4" rider?

Claw23 if you want clearview call them and discuss. They were very helpful when I called and talked to them about one for my bike. There website also tells you how to measure for proper sizing.

No history with clear view but I have 16 inch Kawasaki shield that works well. I'm 6'4. On long highway rides I use modular helmet and even with chin and shield up at speed I get no wind buffering. Put mustang seat on this spring and still think height is good but don't have nearly as many miles this year.

Awesome, thanks! I will have to look into a 16" shield. I'd love to see Kawasaki's accessories but every time I try to view accessories it says access denied! Very strange :hmm:

Clear view came today rode with base ball cap to see how the lip or recurve would affect the hat. I"m bald so nothing to hold it on. 65 mi. stayed rite there. It is the 16 inch i"m 5ft 8inch or close. Can hear the radio much better.

Put my Clearview on today also. I bought the medium, and I am 6'. I can still see over it, and it is about 1.5" taller than my 12.5" baggershield that came off. Just had a ride home from work, about 17 miles at 60mph max, but I am much happier with the protection it provides. Looking forward to a better test drive, but it feels like the wind barely hits the top of my helmet.

Oh, I also added a 3 pocket shield bag

Does the 16 help the buffer with a passenger as well?

napom turned me on to this, a decent price.

what do you think of the shield after the longer test period? How much over your head do you think the air hits? I really love the looks of the medium and since I tend to slouch I think it might work... not sure though. Also, you mentioned in another thread about now using velcro on your shield bag. I just got one and am looking to mount it. How is it performing on the felt?

I am very happy with shield height. In what I think is my normal sitting position, I put my hand up in front of my face and slowly raise hand until wind hits it...wind barely hits the top of my helmet. I had to do the hand test because I don't feel the wind hitting the helmet. If I sit straight up, which is rare, and crane my neck raising my head, I can get some wind in the face. At this point I think it is a keeper. It may be worth mentioning that I have a Mustang seat, it may sit me different than a stock seat. Hope this helps, but ultimately I think it has to be a trial and error process because we all could be sitting just a bit different....

We have had rain on and off all week, I have not ridden since using the velcro to mount the bag. Using several pieces of velcro, it feels firmly held in place, really as tight against the shield as the tape I used, but before it let go from sticking to the felt. I really think this will work out fine. I am going on a 4 hour round trip both this Friday and Sunday, so should be a good test for the short term anyway. I will try to remember to post back here, but you may have to bump me :)

I've been going back and forth on this all weekend. I'm torn between a 16" dark tinted Rifle and the ~15" dark Clearview with recurve. Toy4Bob is saying at 6' the wind isn't at all noticeable with a mustang seat (which I'm assuming sits him an inch or two taller).

I did some measurement tests from the windshield websites and when I'm slouching (which is pretty normal) a 14" seems about right, but when I'm sitting a little more upright 16" is perfect for the 50' distance they recommend you being able to see over the shield. So in my mind the 15" Clearview should be perfect, though if I get the 16" and it needs to be shortened I have a friend who has altered his own shields many times.

Decisions, decisions.
