I want to ceramic coat my pipes. There is a local company that will do it for $140. They do it inside and out. I have the exhaust off now. I have a nomad 1700. I noticed there are to gaskets where the muffler pipe fits in and two metal rings where it ataches to the cylinder head. Can the gaskets be covered and saved. This is supose to make them not as hot.

The 2 metal rings are the exhaust gaskets, but I wouldn't try to reuse them. If you do get your pipes coated, I'd really love to see some pics of them, this does sound interesting.

So the 2 metal rings at the top of the pipe that fit in the head are replacable? Are they pressed on or just fit snug.

If they're really the exhaust gaskets (and we aren't getting confused with something else), they generally don't even fit snug. The just sit in between the pipe and the cylinder head. Do the two metal rings have mounting flanges on them? If so, you can probably slide those off the head pipes once you've taken off the heat shields.

If your talking about part # 1106 in this link (go down to # 46 - mufflers)

They are the replaceable exhaust gaskets, and like Monkeyman said, you'll have a good ol time trying to get them to stay put while your putting your head pipes back on. ;)
This drawing will help you figure out what it is if we're not talking about the exhaust gaskets too.........

Yes two metal rings part# 11060 and 2 muffler soft gaskets 11061 Both are still on the pipes. Ron Ayres are cheaper about 4.25 for rings and 16.00 for gaskets.

Try this place. It is the cheapest I have found on the web.
