I Aquired a HD Tour pack off a Electra Glidue today and it came with all the hardware from that bike. what is the best way to mount it and has anyone used the quick on and off with their pack. I have seen the the wompus rack and was just wondering. Thoughts would be nice

The Wompus Rack is probably your best bet. It is made to fit your bike...so you just have to mount your trunk onto it. I know some people have modified the rack to better fit the HD trunk....but the fitment of the mounting rack onto your bike is really the most important thing IMHO.
Wompus Racks are great. Very sturdy, very high quality, and made to fit your bike exactly.

most of the ones on here that have trunks use the Wompus Rack unless the ones that have the expensive tour packs

Go with the larger 14" Wompus rack. Fits like a glove to your bolt pattern on the bike and gives you the distance back to get the pak set and bolted. I just put the HD King Classic pack on my nomad in September, you are going to love it.
Follow this LINK (http://nomad.eurekaboy.com/tourpak.htm) for mounting steps and pics. If you go with the extended 14" rack you don't need the extensions that this guy made up.

First attempt on fabricating a pack rack, I am thinking about moving it foward2 inches and dropping it 2 inches

If you do have a larger then normal trunk, let me know and I'll make the 14 inch rack at no extra cost.
But I need to know first...

That's the same style pack I have. I mounted mine with the 14" Wompus rack and the only thing I removed was those reflectors and bracket from the license plate frame and the rack replaced the chrome mount you are working with. Make sure you use good hardware too for the rack and pak, safety depends on it.

started with plywood making a template, got it the way I wanted and transfered it to 3/16 plate steel, little grinding and welding, primer and paint, not to bad for the first time. After she got home I (she) decided it has to move fowarad a bit and I am going to remake the whole thing to drop it a bit also. I was wanting to keep the chrome look under the pack so that is why I started working with the mounts on the bike.
35mph winds today kept me out of the trees for deer season, might be later in the week before I make the second one and try it.

Wompus rack! Mine is cut 1 1/2" lower to sit the trunk down, I think it keeps it more in line with the rest of the bike instead of sticking up in the air. here's a pic just after I mounted it and before it went to the painter.

Got bored today, 45mph winds = no deer hunting again so back to the torch. Cut and rebuilt the pack, dropped 2 inches and foward 2 inches. looks tighter to the bike now and she is happy with the way it sits also. had to lay down the plate this time also.

That does look a lot better after you changed the rack. The Tour Pak sits a lot nicer now.

I have it all ready for paint now.
Next thing I am looking for now is a batwing.
