Brought home my new Vaquero yesterday, put 130 miles on it today in some surprisingly nice November Indiana weather. More to come tomorrow as it is supposed to be 60 degrees and dry.

First impressions: Overall, love the bike. Can't wait to be able to rev above the 2500 / 3500 breakin period, seems like practically lugging it at 2500 rpm shifts.

Wearing a full face helmet this morning due to it being about 45 degrees, could hear the radio just fine. Rode in afternoon with my half helmet that I prefer to wear most of the summer, and can't hear anything understandable above about 45mph. If I duck down a few inches, can hear stereo again.... I see a taller shield in my future, but as short as I can possible stand as I LOVE the current look.

Gonna need a better seat.

Really want XM, but refuse to pay $400 plus for the module

Is it possible to fill the fuel tank with the stupid "metal" blocking the inlet???? Pumped very slow and still splashed out!

I put 9000 miles on a 1996 1500 Vulcan Classic this summer, the Vaquero is SO much nicer ride, especially liking this 6 speed compare to the 4 speed on the 96....if I could just keep track of all these gears LOL. I do like the gear indicator for sure.

Lot's of compliments by everyone who saw it today, they are very impressed with the "bang for the buck" factor. These folks included to HD owners, a buddy who is, or maybe past tense was looking at a victory, and a beemer guy. Not saying they will all go trade for a Vaq, but they seemed impressed. All of them loved the red, and they understand red is faster than black LOL

The color in the sunlight closely matched my Mustang as well, I like it!

Nice bike, but isn't the passenger saddle a bit on the small side?

Probably, but doesn't matter to me, will never be used

this may be an incredibly dumb question...........BUT can the stock 1700 nomad seat be made to fit the vaquero. I have found the stock nomad seat very comfortable.

I doubt it... I think I read that not even the Voyager seat doesn't fit. After riding 300 miles this weekend, I will be looking for a seat next spring before I take off for too long a trip. This thing fits me just like the stock seat on my 96 Vulcan, doesn't work for me

Congratulations on the new bike. Great looking ride.

Not sure about the filler neck on the Vaquero but if it is like my Nomad there is a hole big enough to put the pump nozzle into. That is where I pump the gas. It doesn't splash out then.

Any way to plug a thumb (USB) drive into that? If so, that's the way I'd go unless you're planning on some cross country trips. I can put 4 days worth of music on a medium size card (that's what my truck takes) and 16gb cards are fairly cheap. If you can hook an iPod up, there's probably some adapter that will work for a thumb drive. No subscription cost and no commercials (unless you like NPR).

Congrats on the new bike. I can't believe my 03 Nomad will be pushing 10 years shortly. Try a set of speakers (Infinity, Polk,...) if that doesn't help, might have to look info a small amplifier. Geeez, already tearing your bike apart for you.

Congrats on the new ride. That will probably be my upgrade bike someday.
