For anyone that hates taking the battery out of their 1600 Nomad..... buy a Voyager !
Battery removal on the Voyager is a snap. Use the ignition key to unlock and remove the seats, take the protective cover off the battery, remove the battery post bolts and pull out the battery. 5 minutes and your done.
No stupid connectors to disconnect and try to get out of the way.
Only problem is it costs thousands !!!!
I believe the nomad and voyager battery removel is the same on the 1700's. My 2011 is simple. Same as you discribed. My friends 2003 1500 nomad was hard. had to unbolt seat.

The 1500's are quite easy as well.

Thats how my 2010 Nomad works, nice..... now changing the belt is not so nice. Would take a long page to describe, or a all day job just to do it. The good part is that the belt should last a long time.

It's just the 1600's that are a bad deal...
Hmmm... sounds like Kawa made some changes for the better.

Trip the 1500's were fine, why they made the 1600's different beats me. They knew how once, forgot, and remembered I guess.
All I've ever owned is a 1600.... so I didn't know the ease of handling the battery on a 1500 or 1700. Kawa must have built that into the 1600's just for me.

With all the connectors placed over the top of the battery on the 1600's getting it out was doable, but a pain. With the 1700's they made it simple.

I had a 01 1500 before the 16, and it was a cake walk to get the battery out. I have not seen a 17 yet up that close.
The 16 is by far the worst battery box I have ever seen on any thing in my life and I seen a lot of vehical battery boxes, and a lot more on machines like bob cat, skidders, tractors, French Cars LOL The 16 is a nightmare compared to all the rest.
