I posted this because other than the other craziness in the video, it shows a good very low speed highside. Look how far the guy ends up away from the bike, and at such a slow speed.

I was going 40mph on a dirt road when I did a highside, and got tossed a long way. There's a lot of force when the bike flips over to the high side.

It's somewhat like an invisible catapult launch. I am always amazed at the forces involved in a motor vehicle occupant ejection during a rollover. Vaults and flips are something we definitely need to avoid.

Okay...so I guess the lowside is when to bike goes in front of the person?

Low side is when the bike goes over on it's side, and the tires are leading the way in the direction of travel.

A high side is when it suddenly goes from what was said above, to flipping over and the tank and seat are now leading the way in the direction of the slide.

It's the flipping from one, to the other, that produces what can be violent force catapulting the rider.

So here's a guy planning to do a wheelie in front of a camera with not very much run out area to stop. Plus the stopping area is WET. . . and he's not wearing any kind of protective gear.

Not a very well thought out action plan. Don't want to just call him a . . .well I won't say it since I have done some really dumb things myself.

There is also a commercial for an Air Bag Jacket where the "Idiot" does a high side on purpose I forget where it is but google air bag jacket and see what comes up

I'm thinking that he was all prepped to prove to the camera that he could wheelie the bike, and paid no thought to what comes after the wheelie.

I agree, doing a wheelie into a dead end with puddles must not have even been thought about. Just the bike and the camera.

Don't ride to the camera.

I found the link on the guy doing a "High Side" on purpose.
Classic setup, locks up the rear tire , slides, then releases brake. Flips him right over.
An interesting side item is watch when his head hits the curb. That one little shot should make you wear your helmet EVERYTIME.

Shep, I think you're referring to the Impact Jacket:

elmoad,
That is a similar advertisment but the one that has the intentional highside and helmet hit is

The motoair jacket has been discussed before, but I thought the video of the intentional highside was interesting and expecially the last little bit where the stunt man hits his head on the curb. I don't think much of the jacket but it sure proves a point on helmet useage

It didn't work on mine, until I noticed the box at the top of the browser window stating "This website wants to run an ActiveX control..." click on it, and answer yes to the prompt, and it should play.
