Just picked up the Nomad after having a Continental Conti Tour rear tire installed on the front. Quick ride back to work from shop showed no ill effects. Already installed a Turanza on the rear a couple of months ago. Looking forward to a ride tomorrow to give her a good goin' over! Anybody else have a similar setup? Let me know how you like it.

What size is that connie? I didn't think I was all that old, not quite 60 yet. But I recall most bike tires with a square profile from ages ago.

BD that cheap shot was funnier than Hell

Give me a little credit guys..............the new tire is a motorcycle rear tire................only mounted on the front wheel. Lets say it is "meatier" than the normal front tire of the same size. Don't knock the car tire on the rear until ya try it. Have put over 2K on it since installation with no regrets. Ride is improved - wet weather is less of a concern - and it looks "bad"! Have put many of those miles on through the Hoosier National Forest area with no hint of the tire doing anything unexpected. Not to mention the car tire was only $125.........and should run 30K (hopefully)........try either with a regular mcycle rear tire........NOT.

I have the good year triple tread on mine, and I believe it may have helped in saving my wife and I from a wreck when an oncoming minivan crossed over into our lane (I locked up the rear brake and the bike slowed much faster without any fishtailing). I'll never go back to a motorcycle tire on the rear again!

I am using a Metzler ME880 rear 150 on the front and have 12k on it. It still has lots of tread.

Ok "fudd" my mistake. I thought you might have cracked up and gone CT frt. and back!!

Brad that comment was cruel and unusual punishment to say the least. And for what? What have I ever done to you??? Have you seen "let's see your other toys" thread?? Ha ha ha ha :bird: ;)

Thought according to what I have read on "dark-side" forums that a double-dark-sider was indeed a car tire on rear and a motorcycle rear tire on front........close enough. Did ride over 300 miles with the wife this weekend and it performed great. The larger front tire showed minimal effects from cracks, tarstrips, etc. Also seemed to eliminate any wobble that was present at times with the wornout tire it replaced. So far no regrets.
