Well I got my Harley fairing installed! Thanks to Chuckster for some awesome brackets! Made it very simple.

Whelen make a police kit that can mount on the fairing. I just can use the blue lights that came with it, so I took the two red lights and put them on the hard bags and hooked them up to the brakes (Used the brakes to switch a relay in case anyone asks). They are SOOO bright! I'm very happy with the difference.

I'm got a windshield ordered and speaker's are on the way. I'm bidding on a set of gauges, so hopefully I win those tomm and then all I'm missing is the radio which I'll save up for a bit to get.

I'll put a tach in the right gauge spot and I got a piece of metal to make a cover for the left one. Then I got a blue led and two green leds that I'll make a brights and blinker indicators. I'll paint it black then print out the symbols on some sticky paper and cut them out and paint white so I got the markings underneath.

Here's the youtube video of my lights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ny6IIslvUPA

EDIT: That's awesome that it embeds the video like that. I'm really liking this new forum :D

Looks good. I like the idea of putting the red LED'S at the back. The cagers should be able to see you now. I have been thinking of putting some onto the cross members at the bottom of the rear fender that some over to the frame. Just trying to find a set that would be sturdy enough.

Yeah those TIR3 LEDs are WAY brighter than just a normal LED set, but they cost way more too. I had them at a slow blink, but with how bright they are, I thought that would be way too obnoxious

Don't come to NH with them blue lights, as the cops will bust you fast.

Question about the gauges I'll be adding, does anyone know the tap size I will need to use to put the sensor in the drain plug?

Mac's right about that. Some states will get your backside for using "their" light colors.

I'm just sayin'

Nice job!!

Brings up a question I have been wondering.....if your faring lights were white would they be legal in all states??

Tap size in the engine oil drain plug? That would depend on the oil sender's size.

But I don't believe it is a wise idea to put a assumed oil temp sender in the drain plug. IMO it's a tad too close to the ground.

A wild guess is 1/8th inch pipe tap though, but you better make sure of what it is you have first.

If this is a psi sender, the drain plug is not the place anyway.

Sorry, I meant radiator drain plug. Guess I was pretty vague. I want to run the sender through a die to fit where the radiator drain plug is.

As far as the EMT lights go, they appear clear/white when off, and I will only be using them to respond to an emergency in Iowa, so even if I go into other states, as long as I don't flip them on I will be fine. If I ever move I'll sell the blue ones and buy some white ones

Still what size depends on the sender. Most in this size are 1/4" pipe thread, but there 'could' be other sizes I suppose. Most tap and die kits have this size standard nin them, so to see shouldn't be very hard to do. Both SAE and Metric kits have this tap and die so far as I know. Both of my kits do. There is no such thing as metric pipe threads, but I have the feeling no sooner said and someone will make it common in the industry.

In the case of pipe thread tools these are made to accept 1/4 OD pipe aka 6mm. So the hole is bigger. I have a chart for drill sizes, and so if you can ID the fitting for sure I can get you the drill size info, but even that should be standard on the inner lid of a tap die set or on a card in the kit.

As to the lights, I am no cop, and I could carealess about what colors you like are. Just knowing you could get busted for blue lamp s in NH is the message. The cops here want no one other than other cops to share in blue lights.

I have seen them go nuts on engine glow blue lights on bikes more than once. I don't know the real trade name for these, but I think they are just that same color blue, and guys use these parked for show.

It doesn't matter what I think, and I do like that electric blue.

EMT's in NH use red and white strobe lights.

I think the cops should have been given Pink

Why wouldn't you use a brass T fitting in the oem sender unit hole. Then you can run both sending units from the same spot.

I cut the rubber hose and used a 1/2" copper plumbing T under the fuel tank. This way your gauge is reading the hot water coming out of the head.

That looks very similar to the adapter I made myself with a pre soldered 1/2" plumbing Tee.
As for the oil sending port, I think it may be 1/8"NPT, but Im not positive about that. I just went through my pile of brass fittings and found one that fit perfectly. Heres some pics of the oil pressure unit install.
