View Full Version : Gremlin Bell Exchange

Jared
09-22-2011, 01:08 AM
I saw this on another forum and I don't have a gremlin bell for my Nomad, so I thought it would be fun to have an exchange here.

Here's how it works: copy and paste the list below into your post & sign up if you'd like to exchange a bell with someone else. Already have a bell? So what? You can never have too much good luck so sign up http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif. Want/need more than one bell? Sign up as many times as you'd like! That's it, it's simple but there's a catch: by signing up for the exchange you agree to post a pic of your bike with your new shiny bell (there will be a new thread listing the pairings and to post pics in later). Sorry but thems the rules, ain't nuthin' in this world free.

Don't know what a gremlin bell is? Google it, you'll find all the info and more choices to purchase than you can imagine.

On or about Nov 1, I will randomly pair whoever has signed up. It's up to those folks to contact each other privately to arrange mailing. Any questions? Post 'em up! I'll start

"Have you noticed that some riders have a small bell hanging off their motorcycle frame or handlebars?Have you wondered what the purpose is?Well, you have come to the right place. That little bell is more than decoration, it serves a very important purpose – it wards off gremlins, also known as evil road spirits.

You see, there are motorcycle gremlins that LOVE to ride, but they are also mischievous little devils and they cause all sorts of problems for you while you are riding. Some say they are responsible for that old lady in the minivan not seeing you and cutting you off in traffic.Or, you may be having trouble shifting smoothly, your battery goes dead, your turn signal suddenly refuses to work, an oil spill appears out of nowhere, you hit a patch of black ice, etc – you get the idea. Those little gremlins look for trouble and try to steer your bike towards it.
Now, once you get a bell on your scoot – it wards off these attacks from the little gremlins, not allowing any more to get onto your bike.If you already have some gremlins riding with you, they will get trapped in the hollow of the bell, and the constant ringing will drive them insane – causing them to lose their grip and fall to the roadway.
Do you have the protection of a gremlin bell?If you buy a gremlin bell of your own, the power works. If you receive the gremlin bell as a gift – the powerful magic of the bell is doubled. Do you have a friend who does not have a gremlin bell yet? Why not be the person to give them one, they'll thank you! The bell, and a good preventive maintenance program by the bike's owner, will help eliminate the gremlins."

Krash, here is the legend.

The Legend

Many years ago, on a cold December night, an old road dog and his loving partner were heading back home (http://www.squidoo.com/Gremlin-Bells#) from a trip to Mexico. His saddlebags filled with toys and other assorted trinkets for the kids at a group home near where he worked.

http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq336/Drifter0658/bikersunset.jpgAs he rode along that night he was deep in the warm thoughts of how fortunate he had been in life, having a loving riding partner that understood his need to roam the highways and to his trusty old panhead that hadn't let him down once in the many years they had sailed the asphalt seas together.

About 40 miles north of the border, in the high desert, lurked a small group of notorious little critters known as road gremlins. You know, the ones who always leave little obstacles like, one shoe, bricks, boards, and pieces of old tires on the road, and also dig those dreaded potholes for bikers to run over and crash, thus giving the road gremlins a chance to rejoice over their acts of evil.

http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq336/Drifter0658/gremlin1copy.pngAs the lone wolf of a biker rounded a curve that moonlit night, the gremlins ambushed him, causing him to crash to the asphalt and skid before coming to a stop next to one of his saddlebags that had broken free. As he lay there, unable to move, the road gremlins made their way towards him.The biker, not being one to give up, started throwing things at the gremlins as they approached him. Finally, with nothing else to throw but a bell, he started ringing it in hopes to scare off the dirty little gremlins.

About a half a mile away, camped in the desert, were two bikers sitting around the campfire talking about their day's ride, and the freedom of the wind blowing in their faces as they rode across this vast country. In the stillness of the night air they heard what sounded to them like church bells ringing, and upon investigating, found the old biker lying along the roadside with the gremlins about to get him. Needless to say, being part of the biker brotherhood, they preceded to ward off the gremlins until the last ran off into the night.

http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq336/Drifter0658/gb2.jpgBeing grateful to the two bikers, the old road dog offered to pay them for their help, but as all true bikers do, they refused to accept any type of payment from him. Not being one to let a good deed go unnoticed, the old biker cut two pieces of leather from his saddlebags tassels and tied a bell to each one. He then placed them on each of the biker's motorcycles (http://www.squidoo.com/Gremlin-Bells#), as near to the ground as possible. The tired, old road warrior then told the two travelers that with those bells placed on their bikes, they would be protected from the road gremlins and that if ever in trouble, just ring the bell and a fellow biker will come to their aid.

I was going to purchase the bell ahead of time like some of you have done, I think. Then I decided to wait and see who it was that I was paired with. Maybe I can make my choice more personal if I know who it is I'm buying for.
For instance, if Scott/CJ and I were paired up I might get him one with a H.O.G. theme.
Just my thoughts.

Also, keep in mind that if you are buying it online, you can have it shipped directly to the person receiving it. That way you don't double pay for shipping.

Too bad BD isn't on this list. He would really like a nice pink bell or one with an iron on it.

I don't have one so I can't swap with anyone. I actually thought about buying 2 just so I could join in this. Might put this on my shopping list for next week.

Monkeyman, several of us don't have bells right now. YOU CAN'T BUY YOUR OWN, so just buy one and do this exchange with us! :)

The last one given to me was in the shape of a Cow bell (appropriate for the Kaw-asaki!)

Y'all know it doesn't work if you buy your own. The power of the bell is that is a gift. It's sort of like having sex with yourself if you buy your own bell. :wtf:
