Saddlebag essentials

What are some things that everyone keeps in their bags at all times? Safety, tools, ect. I know that you been there done that guys have it down to a art. What things should no rider be without?

Not that I am an expert but I keep the following essential's in my bag.

1) Rain Gear
2) Ball Cap
3) Slime Compressor
4) Stop and Go plug kit (works great)
5) Rain Cover for bike
6) Air gauge
7) Micro Fiber Cloths
8) Owners manual

That's about it for me. I am sure there are other items carried and will be interesting to see what everyone carries.

I carry a metric socket set, tire repair kit with air compressor, jumper cables, hex wrenches, spare glasses, spare head light bulb, 4 way screwdriver, a map of the state I'm in and a hat to cover my helmet hair when going to eat or site see. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Some of the things I always have are a set of MC jumper cables, first-aid kit, a small 3/8 drive metric socket set, spare bulbs (headlight included), sunscreen, tire repair kit and slime air compressor, and a small roll of toilet paper in a Crown Royal bag http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Not necessarily saddlebag but tour pack. Compressor, tire plugger, assortment of tools, water bottle, gloves, sunscreen.

On my Commuter bike (Shadow 750), I have some basic tools, orange safety vest, little LED flashlight, Tire Plug kit with CO2, small first aid kit.

Wife and I are going away for the weekend for the first time since purchasing the Nomad and this thread is a good reminder of those things to move over to that bike and stock up on / check.

I carry a Cruz tool kit my son bought me for my Nomad. I have replaced the metric tools with SAE equivalents since I switched to a Harley. I carry a Slime compressor and a tire plugging kit, a digital tire gauge, a couple pairs of sunglasses and clear glasses for night riding. A couple of different kinds of gloves, a do-rag or 2 (a bandanna makes a nice mask for dust storms), a charger for my cell phone and a small LED flashlight.

In addition to all these items mentioned a roll of electric tape is an essential.

You're right, Gene. I didn't list a roll of tape separately because it's included in my tool kit. Also a few zip ties and a couple feet of baling wire.

I carry most of the stuff and a Mag lite plus I have a plastic tube with "ties" in it and then I wrap some duct tape around it - never leave home without my duct tape; may have to build a raft or something!

I carry all the above plus $20 in my owners manual, not everybody takes credit cards.

In addition to much already listed: Sun block lotion, Chap stick, Visine eye drops, Leatherman multi-tool, roadside assistance card, cell phone charger, spare key, Loctite, spare batteries, set of hex keys, handiwipes, pencil and paper pad, travel sewing kit, fuses, various size zip lock bags, ...did someone say a roll of toilet paper...most definitely.

windshiled bag: sunscreen;kickstand board; flashlight; garage door opener; bandana.

left saddlebag: extra ammo; MRE; mushroom tire plugs; slime air compressor; 550 cord; charger for I-pod and GPS.

right bag: shock air pump; small tool kit (with zip ties and small bungees)

small tail bag: Cover for bike; clean up rag; bottled water; and cable to lock bike up with.
