Thats the first mod I do when I get one. I see it as a blemish on a magnificent work of art that is the tank! Do you think the Pope will ask you to donate the old badges so he can stick them to the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel ??? I-- think---NOT!

Don't give 'em to Todd either. He wants a set to stick to the sides of his helmit! http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif

Plus dumb "a's" think it looks like a HD without 'em.

Ashamed to be riding Kawasakis, are we? ::) I don't get the de-badged look, but if that's what twirls your beanie, then go for it.

My 2005 Suzuki C50T had been debadged by the original owner and I got tired of telling people it wasn't a Harley.

Watcha want to bet there aren't any threads like this on the HD sites. I always just assume that a bike without badges on the tank has been dropped/wrecked and has a replacement tank because the original was dented. But each to his own.

Out of all the tank badges out there, the Vulcan badges are one of the nicest for sure.

Do what ever floats your boat, but be warned, it's a pain in the butt to get them off!

I think the badge distracts from the bike's lines, but I tend to be a minimalist in most things.

I have the Vulcan V on my windshield plate.

When you didn't offer a prize with your question, you left it open for the winner to claim a prize of his/her choice. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif
Being as a prize was asked for, I thought the best prize for that effort would be a steak sandwich. Now a Big Gulp Dr. Pepper has been added. ;)
If I were you I would finalize the prize deal before this gets really expensive. http://s2.images.proboards.com/shocked.gif

Kego' Labatts Blue and some Big Gulp Dr. Peppers. 16 Home Made Apple pies. Overnite accomodations at the nearest t*tty bar and of course the round trip airfare.

I recently de-badged including the side bag stripes and side cover tags. I still have the windshield badge because I like that one. 4 of my 6 bag stripes got dinged in the accident. Couldn't figure out how to restore them so they are gone. I liked the look of the "stripe free" bags so one thing led to another.

I'll change my sig pics as soon as I can get bike, camera, cables and computer available on the same day. :-)

I just knew I'd seen plenty of H-D's without badges.
I've thought about taking them off mine, but I wonder if it would look good.
If the tank was a solid color I would have already removed them.
I'll get a look at Mike's in Antlers in a couple of weeks. If I like the looks, I'll remove mine.

Removing the tank-badge often makes me think the person is trying to hide what they are riding. I am not saying this is the reason here; but often I wonder if that isn't the underlying reason for many... ??? ::)

One should not worry about what they ride... and that is coming from a person that has a HD and a Can Am Spyder.

When I rode a Nomad... I got grief from the HD, BMW, and GW riders.

When I ride the HD... I get grief from the metric-crowd (especially BMW owners... are you listening Ponch?! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif)

When I ride the Spyder I catch heck from all riders!!! (Are you listening CJ, Loafer, BD, and on and on and on?!! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif)

If I worried about what everyone thought... I'd have a garage full of tank-badges!! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif Instead of a hub-cap shop, I could have a tank-badge shop... http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

They had two 2 tone (blue and white) ultras that were 2010 leftovers at 22K each He wasn't interested in dealing (he was damn determined to sell me a leftover Roadglide custom though. I have no interest in a bike with 2" suspension travel.). The thing was, he expected me to believe, when I would rather think. I wish you were there. You could bargain better than I can anyway. My way usually involves investigating a bike or car, finding out what the dealer cost is and making an offer based on what it is worth to me. When a dealer won't haggle, then it goes nowhere. I am sure he sold the bikes, so it really doesn't matter to either of us I guess. In the end though, I got the feeling I must not be the typical HD buyer. It's almost like religion. I love the way it looked and it is a cool bike, but I couldn't get past a couple things. His answer was to believe. Ok. Next.

Perhaps (SOME OF!) the individuals with badges, who hold the remove to hide opinion, suffer from acute insecurity. They only find comfort and feel the badge is attractive if everyone kept the badge attached Removing the badge to them could be too much of an envelope to push.
