Something to Ponder

It seems to me there is a very small growing concern that there is far too much joking on the boards or the boards threads sometimes takes an unexpected turn into humor. I've never had an issue as I'm one the the one's that clown around too. Thought most knew who the clowners were? Guess not.

Instead of complaining that threads turn quite often by a handful of posters (me) for one, does anyone know that probably 95% of all useful Nomad information from mechanical to technical to "how to's" to baffelectomies to assisting in TFI tuning, car tire, type of grease to use. how to get better mileage. Installing fuse boxes, clutch repair, extenders, swing arm maintenance, you name it is answering by those few handful of "clowns"?????

Be careful what you ask for as those handful of clowns have no interest in YOUR NOMAD's issues. Burger King makes a living by advertising "have it your way". None of the gear heads here get a freeking dime from anyone so serving it "your way" isn't too important to them..... Anyone ever throw a dime down to Mac? I doubt it.

I've already contacted those 1%er gear headsand advised them that since we're all so touchy over humor to stop answering tech question and tell everyone to take their bike to the dealer....Plan your own Rally's...

To those that do not feel KawaNOW is the "same as it used to be"; or feel that hijacking threads is a major crime... I simply suggest they leave -- period. Just my opinion. It is easy... just don't come back. ;)

If life has to be so rigid to exist... then this is not the place for them to be -- period.

One reason KawaNOW remains successful is that is has something very few boards, if any, have -- and that is a "feel" of being in a room of people with a common-passion about Nomads and motorcycles in general.

In those environments you'll have a variety of conversations going on at any one time -- some you may like... some you won't. When that happens "in a room" you typically would walk away. Well... this board is the same... simply walk-away from that thread, board, or KawaNOW if the whole-thing ticks you off enough!

Our rallies have a lot of people that can't wait to see each other again; and/or to meet someone in person for the first-time. Much of this is attributed to the "nature" of this board. Most of its success can be attributed to this as well.

Last but not least... KawaNOW's orginal mission is being delivered daily by its members providing advice and camaraderie.

OK, a little clarification is in order here.
This all started because I liked the way Loafer put *joke* in his posts on the joke forum so it showed in the new topics section. I figured it would let us guys who don't care for the <s>stupid </s> jokes to go right on by while surfing.
I never complained about the joking around and thread hijacking that seem to have somehow gotten into this discussion.
I like to bust balls, joke and thread hijack as much as anyone.
I must say I am a little upset being called a whining "I've got nothing better to do but bitch at everything" pain in the ass. I think that was ball busting on your part Brad but I don't think it was deserved.
I also didn't like the insinuation that I was a malcontent and treat this forum like it is nothing more then my official complaint department.
I'm actually pretty pissed right now so I am getting off here and going to take a chill pill.
From now on I will just stick to answering questions if I can and lurk. :(

I thought this discussion started out as constructive criticism. Not everyone has to agree. I'm with TC and like the idea of posting "joke" when it is called for. That is it.

Hijacking threads is another thing I don't like it because the search engine can be tough to find info you may be looking for and when it gets sidetracked it's time consuming and some of us don't have all day to read through 4 pages to get an answer because the thread was hijacked.

This site has saved me a lot of time and money and has given me information even the dealerships don't know.

That being said I have no complaint with any one person, though apparently it's hit home by some.

So take this post for what it's worth and keep in mind other peoples thoughts. If we do that I think everyone will be better for it. ;)

BD is 100% right...that is what this site is about. We get the useful information out there and we have a little fun while doing it. If the thread gets off too much simply bring it back around if you did not get what you wanted. I have to say though, in all the years, I have rarely seen this happen. The answer is generally there.

Let me just state it again: Picture a bunch of friends sitting around a table at a bar or restaurant discussing motorcycles. They will get the discussion handled and there will be tangents and diversions and joking around at the same time. Sometimes you might have to bring the conversation back around after the fooling around is over if you have not heard the info you are looking for. That is the way KawaNOW was designed. Has been that way since 2007. Will remain that way as long as the same folks are involved with administering the site.
