Been looking for Nomads with custom paint. It's actually hard to find them on the internet. If anyone has pictures please post them here. Been tossing the idea around of painting mine this winter. Flames, two toned, mural, stripes etc. I'm kind of partial to black. It's hard to beat. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Bobby, in my travels I don't think I have seen a Nomad with a custom paint job. Be nice to see some. Maybe someone will post some pictures for us to see.

Look at the pictures of Nightmare's "Glowmad" http://s2.images.proboards.com/shocked.gif, it's in his signature picture. Or just be in Antlers on September 29th. It will grow on you. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

here's a link to a custom painted Vaquero. Since you have a fairing, I'd say it could be similar. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

The flames over the fire is pretty neat but I prefer the black over the orange flames. I tried practicing painting the real fire and it's harder to do than it looks. The candy colors are the key to it looking right.

There was a guy from SoCal at both Custer and Maggie Valley with a beautifully painted blue Nomad by the name of Tom. I don't have any photos of his bike, but maybe someone else does.

Been thinking about this also as the stock paint chips like hell. Will be awhile but I can always dream. I don't like flames on a Nomad, for one it's been done to death and second I associate flames with performance and lets face it the Nomad is no performance bike! I have a trick paint job on my Sportster that I'm think would look good on the Nomad even though it has flames. While the Sportster is Pearl White/Pearl Aqua [Stock Harley colors for my year] with purplish flames I think the same pattern would look good in my stock Nomad colors Red/Silver, not sure what color to do the flames but probably a light orangest color. Silver where the white is and red where the Aqua is on the Sportster. Attached is a pic of the Sportster. The Theme is a white racing stripe with pin stripe on each side on the fenders and then the white middle stripe on the tank replicates the racing stripe on the fenders.

Mine isn't anything special or a show topper but I went with a Harley Davidson gray on my blk. '06
The tour pak was the stock gray from Harley and when I dumped the bike last fall, I had the tank and fairing done as a two tone to go with the tour pak. I may still add some more to the fenders and maybe the hard bags one day. You can't see the difference in my photos.
Hers one thats a bit better.

Mine is out being done right now. I'm having Metallic Blue ghost flames put over the Diablo Black. I didn't want anything that was "In your face" if you know what I mean. Hopefully I should get the bike back today and if I do I will post some pictures.

That Green n black Vaquero makes my pee pee tingle! I would dearly love to paint the Nodecker like that but the other half has stated in no uncertain terms - NOT! Even after the crash when I had the chance she who rules said that it was staying Black and that was that!

When my wife and I were vacationing in Naples, Fl. We came across a nomad that had a custom paint job on it. It was airbrushed with a pirate theme all over. Side lids on bags each had pirate ships. Cannon shooting on top of bags. Pirate face on tank and can't remember the front fender but it was awesome! The man lived in Miami just out for a ride with some friends.

When I painted my first bike, I searched for ideas and decided I wanted to stay away from flames and skulls. Although they look cool, I feel that they have been WAYYYYY over done. Not original at all anymore. I also think the Nomad looks best in a solid single color (any color). When custom paint is broken up with stripes, it distracts the eye from the lines of the bike which are what make it really stand out.

Good points Jared, I tend to agree with ya. In my case the tour pak was the Harley stock gray and when the bike went down, it was the time to bring that "HD stock gray" into the rest or some of the bike. I keep trying to think of something orig. as a theme. Ghosts, flames, just won't happen for me.
having said that Bobby,.....yours looks nice.

Well, Wompus, some of us want to tone down the hard-a$$ biker image!! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

btw. I agree with Jared on the simplicity. The Nomad's lines are beautiful. Accenting them is key (to me).

I still new on here, but here's mine. It had to be repainted after te tornado. It's black pearl over white pearl, but it's hard to get a good pic showing it. Still needs to be buffed out and the badges put back on.

I look a lot out here but never post, but this is my custom paint job on my 2000 Nad 1500. Oh and BTW I absolutely love it. I also sent the front end off last winter and had it chromed. Gets quite a few compliments.
