Just completed adding a tour pack to my 07 Nomad 1600 this weekend. Been a long and expensive process, but the results were definitely worth waiting for!
Details are:
07 Nomad 1600, added the extended Wompus Rack which was a PERFECT fitup and a great finished product.
The tour pak I got used for $250, which was the pack, chrome racks, backrest, and inside there is an organizer. Just happened to be in the right place at the right time on that! Took it to paint, had them fix a small crack and then repaint to match the bike,... took them 4 weeks, but it came back perfect! He mixed up two of the Candy Cardinal Reds and tried them, neither matched to his perfection,... but he mixed them together and WOW, right on, even down to the shimmer in the sunlight.
Made a template this weekend and was able to have a friend steady the bike with my wife on it so we could determine the best spot for placement. Once set, a centerpunch marked the holes and we drilled out the rack. After a quick test ride, seemed good, so we bolted it down with Stainless steel hardware and Nylocks. 60 miles yesterday and my wife was very comfortable and more importantly,.. Happy. So much so, I'm not in the dog-house for spending $700 on repainting the tourpak and having it lettered / pinstriped.
