Just came across this picture that I took last year when riding the Nomad through a magnificent canyon just outside Moab, Utah. Wish I was there now. Great Road all the way beside the river.

This picture is same trip same day. I cannot tell you how beautiful it was. I just stood there and listened to the silence and realized how insignificant I am. I put 35,000 miles on in 14 months. I had a heart attack in 2004. It happened when I was sitting on my couch at home. In the hospital I decided to buy a motorcycle and travel the country. Figured If I could die doing nothing on my couch I was going to ride the wind and take my chances. Haven't stopped since. Leaving next Tuesday for Canada and across to New York and down and back to IL again. I Love it........Yes, I am retired.

Hey drangon57 have a safe and great trip.....
Thank you to all of you for the nice comments. I cannot begin to imagine how much fun it would be to have a group ride with all of you folks. We will have to put Trip, Nico, BD, and SWB in the front so we can see their antics. Can you imagine all of us at the Mariott at night...Hey I don't stay at no by the hour flop houses. We would have a ball. Now if I was a real organizer I would start organizing this thing now......HMMMMMM

Crash........

09-06-2007, 08:55 PM
OK, ok, Look.... the guilt is getting to me (Catholic School kid)

I didn't take an outside-in line... took an inside line... drifted wide.

My entry speed wasn't 15mph.... more like 35mph.

I hit sand/dirt and tapped brakes and pulled in clutch.

So now you got a full confession!!! Happy???????

Awww... I feel better.... it was eating me up inside.

Hwy 9 that goes through Zion National Park is breathtaking! I was looking at my 2004 American Map Road Atlas the other day and right on the front cover of the map book is Zions Park with a big 180 degree sweeper! I recongnized it cause I've been there in my car but havn't been through on my bike........ yet.

What part of Utah does your son live Nico?

You are my idol Dan! I can't wait until I'm retired - because thats exactly what I'm going to be doing!. I was planning on retiring at 55 but then Con-way Freight got rid of its company paid pension and offered us more 401 K instead. You can't draw 401 k until 59 1/2 and who knows if its going to be enough to retire on???

My dad grew up in ogden. I recently moved about 1/2 hour out of salt lake but still work in salt lake.

No kidding Wolf.. didn't even realize you were in Utah.. "I can't see sh*t"... will have to hook you guys up sometime.... he's 34. been there a good 5-6 yrs or more now... been on me to come visit forever!

09-07-2007, 08:14 PM
Hey Wolfman.....I've been through Zion in a car too. I would love to ride through there, Arches, and Capitol Reef on the bike. I have a friend who worked in CR two summers ago. That whole area is a biker's haven!

09-07-2007, 08:21 PM
Hey nico If he can't put you up come stay with me if you ever want to visit. Private bedroom and bathroom.

Kawgirl - I'm really looking forward to getting down there and doing that. Just to get down there would probably be around 300 miles plus the cruising around and the drive home so I would have to make 2-3 days out of it.

Dan, thanks for sharing the pictures. Kawasaki and the Utah State Board of Tourism should be interested in your shots.
