I just heard about her accident, they are saying that she will be ok so that is good. I know this isn't the place to post this, but I also know that she has lots of friends who read this forum. Everyone that has met Terri considers her a friend. Its always sad to see someone we know get hurt.
Here is the link to the VROC forum with most of the details, and they are organizing help to get her stuff to her and help her get home.

Oh man...bad things happen in three's so they say. Stan, Noel and now Teri....sheesh. Teri left CC in my group heading north, but her and some others stopped off in Coos Bay while the rest of us trudged ahead. I'm not sure if she continued north that day or the next...but what a bummer. I'm glad she is not hurt worse and our prayers for her quick recovery.

I met Teri, as many others did at the National in Maggie Valley and can only say what enthusiasm she has for our sport. Not only because of here position, but a true passion for riding comes across in listening to her.

Hi All

I spoke with Teri this morning and exchanged subsequent text messages. She is overwhelmed by the compassion, well wishers, and genorosity of all her 2 + 3 wheel friends.

She did say that her family members are having a hard time getting through on the phone and she is just exhausted/groggy and needs rest before her ankle surgery on Thursday.

It might be a good idea for us to hold off on the calls (maybe just text?) until she has recovered from surgery.

Trip....I will still drop by the flowers and card from all of us today.

P.S. She said her computer survived the crash and works so I imagine she will be reading all our wishes and prayers after she recovers a bit.

I left her a quick note on FaceBook. Met Teri in Cortez last year and we had some great conversations, some about writing in general, as I also write for industry publications. Special lady and I was pleased to connect with her.
Teri, if you do read this thread, just know how sorry I was to hear of your accident, but pleased to know you were able to limp away from it. :)
Heal up quickly. It's pretty obvious that you are deeply cared about and have made a great impression on a lot of us here at KawaNOW and VROC.

Now the next time we meet we can swap wreck stories! http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif On the bright side for the next year or so you'll know at least 24 hrs in advance that your going to have rain! http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif There's more, insurance companies are very helpful, compassionate and compensate you more than fair or ahead on your bike. You maybe feeling helpless now, but there are a bunch of us chomping at the bit to do anything for you.

Here's to a fast recovery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif

Shoeney, you're a great man!!! Hats off to ya!! I'm speaking from experience as somebody who's been in a bike accident a couple of states from home. It's about as helpless as I've ever felt. I have to say Kawgirl and Todd eased my situation a lot by just being there and going above and beyond and getting me HOME! I can't tell you why you want to have your things and see your bike, but you just do. Somehow it makes you feel better.

The flowers and the bell were a great idea. Keep doing what your doing. Can't wait to have a drink with you one day! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif Or several! http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif

Motorcyclist injured in crash
Posted: Wednesday, Aug 31st, 2011

The driver of a 2011 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle was transported to a Portland-area hospital following a crash in which the motorcycle rear-ended a car in the late afternoon hours of Aug. 28.

According to the Oregon State Police, Teri Nanne Conrad, of Lake Forest, Calif., was driving the Kawasaki on Highway 101 near milepost 160.4 north of Yachats when she crashed into the back of a Subaru Outback stopped and waiting to make a left turn. Conrad was thrown from the motorcycle and required medical attention. She was transported to Legacy Emanuel Hospital, according to the OSP patrol log.

For the complete article see the 08-31-2011 issue.

Here's what Teri told me about her accident...

"I keep thinking if there was anything I could have done different. I just wasn't anticipating the car stopping in front of me."

I told her this was similar to what led up to my collision. I was on a road with a small general aviation airport on the left and a large cattle pasture on the right. There are no cross streets, hence nobody should be slowing to turn or traffic entering from either side. I certainly didn't anticipate traffic stopping in front of me, so when it did - I had to brake hard. You know the rest.

That's great that Teri may get to go home tomorrow. I'm sure this has been an awful week for her.

So where was the person turning to? Did she skid? You have to wonder if it was on purpose. I had that happen on 160 in AZ. Chief Wild Eagle decided to lock them up because there was an escalade behind him and I was behind the Escalade. Neither of us hit him, but it was pretty apparent...

You know Scott, Teri, the biggest fear I have is rear-ending a cager. My close calls have been because I've been too busy checking out the country side smiling like a happy fool and look up and see the car that was way up ahead stopped! Now everytime a car passed me I slow down a little and let them get way ahead of me. No, it's not always 100% of the time but I'm now very conscious of it...

When I ride up a mountain road on turns I ride the right hand side. On left turns this give some potential idiot part of my lane coming the other way who might cross over and on right turns it gives me room for taking the turn a little to fast to drift a few feet without going over the line.

Going around a twisty on 66 in Oregon, two squids tried to pass a car from behind that was coming my way downhill. That was fun. I had a few options, luckily no one was hurt. Hang gliding a BMW doesn't appeal to me, although I would have impaled the squid POS if I had to. He would have tasted german engineering.

Squids or bubble heads usually referred to those guys that rode in boats that they deliberately sunk and managed to un sink on a regualar basis. Note: What goes down does not always come back up. Swab jockeys and skimmers referred to the surface fleet.
