Flash2Pass Motorcycle Garage Door Opener

I was wondering, anyone on here ever buy and try one of these Flash 2 open garage door things?

Recommend it, don't recommend it? Opinions?

Both of our bikes have them. Patricia's is the primary unit and will work from about 80 yards away. Mine is an add on unit and works from about 50 yards away. That's with the base unit on the inside wall of the garage.

Well worth the purchase in my opinion. I installed them both in about 30 minutes with a philips screwdriver and the parts from the box. I had the neighbors grandson thinking I opened the door by magic. ;-)

I have it and love it. I flash just before the driveway and the door is up as I go in. One of the best things is that since it just replaces the in the garage button it doesn't interfere with your normal garage door opener. On a side note: Shortly after I bought it, it quit working. I called the company and they replaced the faulty garage side piece and it has worked well ever since. I find it much easier to flash my lights than to use my garage door opener. (that was if I remembered to put it in my pocket.

I considered getting a Flash2Pass. After a little researching, I found a key chain remote for my garage door. It's about the same size as the remote for a car. I just leave it attached to the bike keys and hit the button when I'm pulling up. Works great for me, and cheaper by far.
May not be what your looking for, but could be a option.

Patricia was still a novice when we got ours. Our driveway is a bit bumpy so both hands on the bars was not optional. Then I lost the regular remote that I kept in my jacket so we got the second one. It's been a couple of years, but I didn't think they were expensive. (still only about $80.00)

Ive never heard of that unit, I use a regular garage door opener mounted on my fairing, but thats a slick idea.

I guess just being old fashion but getting off the bike and walking up to the key pad and entering the garage door code, and then walking all the way back to the bike getting on the bike and then driving it into the garage. Does seem like a bit more effort then just press and go. =r=

Still requires either a stop or a hand off the bars. . . What price Safety???

Thanks for all your thoughts. I read quite a while ago about Gadgets door opener, I thought about doing that, but then decided I'm to lazy to go to all the trouble of pulling the remote apart, waterproofing it, drilling the hole, , soldering the wires, etc.

I used to carry around until recently the door remote in my windshield bag, but never was comfortable leaving it in the bag when parking somewhere where I was out of site.

I do like the ease of the Flash2, pretty slick idea. The only part I don't like, is splicing into the headlight wire with one of those crimpon T's they are showing on their website. I could do a hard solder, but I really would rather leave the headlight wire alone.

Now, JWG, that is a interesting idea about a keychain one, I didn't know they made something like that. I'll google that, see who sells them and check it out, weigh the pros and cons against the Flash2. Do you remember where you bought yours?

Bull, I got mine from Lowes, but Home Depot also carries them. Mine is a Chamberlain brand, to match my door motor. Several other manufacturers also make them. I find it very handy. For less than $20

You know what, JWG. I was just looking at them on Amazon, and just came back up from garage just to make sure my garage door model. Like yours, it's a Chamberlain. I can get one on Amazon for $15.95, and was just about ready to order one.

But now that you say Chamberlain / Liftmaster might be at Lowes or Home Depot, I'll run up there tomorrow and see if they have it, save me the shipping cost. Also, Sears is about a mile from me, will check there, too.

Figure for that price, may as well check that out first, before the Flash2. Thanks again for the info, JWG.

Wow, just looked on the Home Depot website, thought I'd pick one up on the way home. They do indeed have one, like JWG said, same exact model as I saw on Amazon last night, but it is TWICE the price. Almost $33 bucks! I don't mind someone making a few bucks, but a 100% markup is getting a little bit out of line.

Stopped the other day at Sears, who sells the Chamberlain / Liftmaster brand that I have, and they wanted even more than Home Depot does for the keychain, $35 to $40 bucks. So for that amount of money, I think I'm leaning towards the Flash2, it's only $25 bucks more.

I did the same thing. Water proof? No need. I did get a sealed button though.
