I got home at 1:50pm today. As Scott's been posting we checked into Livermore last night. Rode 350 miles through the bread basket over the Grapevine this morning. took off at 6:40am. It was over 100 in the valley which really sucked!! we needed to stop every 100 miles to water up. 1965 miles total trip miles later... Home and cold beer and water!!

I won't forget this trip! Thanks to all!! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Tricia and I arrived home this evening after taking the long scenic way home....adding about two and a half hours to our day, but worth every extra mile... http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif. I will post more about the rally soon and add some pics when I get a chance to go through them all. But for now...home safe and sound... ;).

hey there everyone!! All's well that ends well. ......and it did for me. I arrived home around 7:30 PM after an unnerving trip down the I-5. {We don't have Hwy's up here like that!!} ...and then making a quick stop at the cabin to pick up some mail. But I have to say what a great time I had seeing "old" friends and meeting new ones. And some of the best riding I have ever done. My heart felt thanks to Kris and Joel for putting the whole thing together for all of us. Great job!!! I managed to put on 3,219.8 Kms. or for you non metric people that's 2,000.691 miles. BEST TRIP EVER!!!

Jared it looks like you had such a good time you had to say it twice. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif ;)

I added up the receipts and I made out pretty good! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif Can't wait until next year to see everyone again!!

Guys, you're never going to believe this, but I ACTUALLY SAW Jared's bike dirty! I tried to go grab my camera to get a picture, but by the time I got back, he had the rag and polish out.... http://s2.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif

Almost made it home. From just west of Laramie to Cheyenne we were almost out running the storms. Stopped in Cheyenne just long enough to check out radar and the clouds were brewing in every direction we could have gone to get home. Oh well. Wasn't planning on being home til tomorrow anyway.

I walked in the front door about an hour ago. It got hot in Redlands and got worse from there. I'll update later with mileage.

Mileage for today = 479.9

High MPG = 44.147

What is chip seal?

They lay an oil-base down and then cover it with loose "chipped" rock. The thought is eventually the sun will heat the old-tar and new-oil and tires will compact it into the surface. It is an inexpensive way to re-surface a blacktop road. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

It is not fun to ride on right after it has been done.

Glad to hear everyone has made it home safe! ;) http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

You have to do something about the wind going across 80 through Utah. It felt like I was at a 45˚ angle. All I can say is holy sh!t.

Thanks Greg. I've found a little bit of rum, bourbon or wine coupled with a Vicodin gets me 6 hours through the night. Gotta be careful with Vicodin because it contains Tylenol. A warning to all; Tylenol and too much alcohol is extremely bad for the liver.

Well, I rolled into the garage today at about 2PM eastern time. Ended up with just over 6000 miles on bike and 2100 miles trailering.
Hate that we had to leave out Thurs morn but with Jim's concern about the Beemer's brakes and him needing to be to work the following Monday it proved to be the right decision. On the way home we did about 60 miles of Oregon's Hwy 66 which was fun (tell the truth Jim, you enjoyed it didn't you!) and on my side trip to Boulder the locals took me up and down a half dozen mountain roads that were the equal of 66 and the Dragon so: what a great time!
Thanks much for all the work from all the orgainizers! I have a ton of PICS but will have to figure out how to make them available.
Sorry to hear about Stan and Noel and Terri's problems! Hope they are all up, around and back on two wheels soon!
See everyone in Antlers in a few weeks! Gonna go change the wings fluids and give her a good washing!
