I just ordered the Kawi CB and rear speakers for my Voyager and set up an appointment with my Dealer to install them when they come in. How much have you folks paid to have these items installed? Anyone do them on their own? How long should it take?
The reason I ask is that my delaer can't give me an estimate because he has never installed these before - I asked for a Guinea Pig discount and he said he'd take care of me but . . . Advice here fellas? Should I be a Guinea Pig and roll the dice or do it myself? :-/

I'd install them myself, my experience is that dealer installation is no assurance of a professional or even correct job. I've seen dealers do some pretty bizarre things, especially where electrical accessories are involved.

I totally agree with Scott, I'd do it myself as well. Ive seen some pretty shoddy work done at dealers especially when adding electrical accessories. They can leave poor conections and dont route the wires very well because it can involve removing the tank and other parts to do the job properly. Things like that I like to take my time on.

My dealer quoted 6 hours at $110 per hour to install the CB, CD changer and 2nd Antenna on my goldwing. I read the instructions and it took me a full day (8 plus hours) but I did it myself. A month later I helped a friend re-do the CB wiring harness install on his wing because the dealer didn't put the 3 noise filters in. Dealer said they were "optional" items. Most times, no one takes better care of you than you do!
If you have a decent place to work and you're not scared of working on your bike, I'd do it yourself - and hopefully it is pretty much plug and play wiring too. Wiring in my own rear speakers involved running the wires from the stereo inside the fairing, under the tank and seat and back into the trunk - and then three holes and bolts on each speaker pod. Since that was an '07 with an H-D trunk, your wiring will probably be easier. Where does the CB mount? If I bought a Voyager I would want the CB and rear speakers.

I just installed the rear speakers last week. Wiring is plug and play. Just have to drill 6 holes and thats it. Very easy IMO. the only thing i didn't do was put silicone around the bolt holes for leakage. Hopefully it won't leak.

Thanks Folks . . . I think I'm gonna do it myself . . . Its all plug and play so no complicated wiring . . . The CB unit mounts inside the left lower fairing . . . That should be the most challenging aspect of job . . . The resr should be fairly easy . . . Anyone have other experiences with a Voyager install, I got my ears on . . .
