Dealers...

Hey, Is it just down here or what?!
I used to work at bike shops for years. We always had Sunday & Monday off.
But over the past few years, the Harley shops have invested big cash in their shops and are open 7 days. They are real nice and the people are great. Even the sportbikes go there!
No Kawasaki shops or other metric shops are open Sunday. They are missing out on the people looking at bikes, buying clothes, helmets etc.
Also, the 3 main Kawasaki shops I have been to recently are still just old steel box stores. The place we got the Nomad is 20+ years old and the roof leaks!
I dunno, if you just had some sales people and clothes people... just to get people going to OUR shops. The local shop even closes early on Saturday!!!
Don't get me wrong; we love the Nomad. But on Sunday, we stop at the local Harley-Davidson shops for R&R, a soda, and looking at everyones ride.

thats the main reason i bought my bike where i did
they were the only ones open on monday when i was ready to buy

I guess I understand your frustration, however, I am glad not to pay for those stores being open, the stores built to the specs that are required, all the advertising, etc in the price of my bike...I got as much and more bike (in my opinion mind you and mine is the only one that matters when I spend MY money) for a better price.

Yeah, the dealership I bought mine at was an old one too....but I dont need my shirt, pants, boots, socks, underwear,license plate, coffee mug, window sticker, shoes, and hat to have my bike brand name displayed on it. Those are fine bikes....I have nothing against them and the utmost respect for the company and anyone that rides a bike....any bike!

I can wait until Tuesday to go buy my things or I will order online.

Dont mean to be on a soapbox....sorry.....you folks on here know I am pretty fun with stuff.....guess thats just how I look at it.

And a skill that many fail to acquire at all! I agree wholeheartedly. I live near Bartonville, IL, the home of Walter Brother HD so I get more than my fair share of ribbing (sorry Nico, didn't mean to remind you of your ribs but then I bet every breath does) for riding a Kaw.

I think it's kinda like an old boat mechanic told me once.

"We are open on Tuesday through Saturday fixing other people's stuff. We have to play sometime too."

As much as I enjoy riding, I can't begrudge the folks that sell and repair bikes having their time to ride too.

There's a dealer in Union City, TN called Abernathy's. He started out with Honda's and Yamahas.....Abernathy's Honda. He now also has a harley dealership across the street....Abernathy's Harley Davidson. The Honda dealership is closed Sun-Mon. The Harley dealership is open everyday.....wonder if it is a requirement of some sort with Harley when you buy a dealership?

The dealer I bought my last two bikes from is an old dingy place. Probably nothing done to the building since the early seventies. It's a dump. I do get good prices on my bikes but they charge way over retail for parts. They do nothing to promote the business and nothing to beautify it. I don't need it to be a Harley type place but I agree, the metric stores are missing the boat. They don't need to be open 24/7 but when they are open for business they need to promote themselves.
